Because black cars, esp with black interiors are harder to cool.

It really depends on what you are used to before. Mine cools just fine in my judgement. Key here is what is "good." Everyone will have a different opinion.

Same here. Thermometer in the 4runner read 108 after sitting in my driveway for a few hours yesterday.

I consider mine week compared to previous vehicles. Even the 2011 Taco I had blew colder. What I did notice is that when at speed it works great, when stopped not so great. It gets the job done though.

this is unfortunate...I had all but convinced myself to buy a 2014 TE, but if the AC is undersized then I'm going to have to reconsider
too many years and miles with my current vehicle, that has this same issue, to overlook this again

Mine too, and I have a black interior and live in Texas. I do have the front side windows tinted, but even when it's 105 outside it's nice and chilly inside.

No problems with my A/C either, has no issue cooling quickly in DC humidity or pure Moab heat

I think the complaints are overblown. I was thinking about this yesterday (100 outside). It takes a minute or two to cool down, but then you can easily freeze yourself out. I'd rather it cool down a hair quicker, but it's not something I would choose to buy a different car over. Be a bit more patient and it gets as cold as you could want.

I would not say its undersized. I think it's purely an efficiency thing. It will freeze you out with no problem when at speed. When in stop and go rush hour traffic for an hour, it blows not as cold, but still sufficient. I've never felt like it was undersized, just different. Also, it's purely subjective, everyone feels it differently. 4runner is great, love it!

More front airflow = better condensing. And that is how an a/c works.

I have a 2010 SR5 and I noticed I have to run the fan on high a lot to cool vehicle, in my old vehicle in could turn it down lower to keep it cool.???
That sounds like mine except mine finally got so weak it just blew warm air at idle. I think I posted this on anotherthread but my fix was tapping the 2 A/C related relays under the hood with the handle of a screwdriver. I guess they weren't fully seated after 160k miles. That did the trick, now it's not only blowing cold but it's much colder. It didn't make sense to me but after a few days I can verify that it did.
