I tried the Husky Liners for $135, and was not real happy with the fit, plus the spouse pronounced then to be butt-ugly and too industrial-looking, so returned them and was planning to look at WeatherTech for $155. But first saw some cheap floor mat sets for $15 at Costco. Don't have dogs or kids, so don't need mats that cover the whole footwell, and we're adults and can manage to sit still with feet planted on the floor mats for extended periods of time. Figured may as well try the ones from Costco for that price, and with a little trimming and 4 holes for the mat anchor hooks (gasp!), they work great. We do a lot of snowshoeing and Spring/Fall slush and mud hiking, and the honeycomb part of the mats traps the melted snow and muck just fine. Can't beat the price - got 2 spare sets (figuring that they won't last forever) and still came in at $110 less than the WeatherTech's. Not trying to talk anyone into or out of anything, just offering a very cost-effective alternative that seems to work just fine.

I just installed a full set in my '12 TE as well, including the piece for the rear cargo deck. The fit is absolutely perfect.

Now I'm waiting on my Wet Okole seat covers that I'm told will be shipped in 4-5 weeks.

Between the floor mats and seat covers, that was a quick way to blow through $900. But it's worth it. I did the same for my Jeep Wrangler when I bought it new in '07 and the interior still looks brand new.

I think of it as a $900 "ounce of prevention".

I'm actually wanting to see a weathertech cargo liner on the sliding rear cargo tray. I'm curious how it would work with the tray. Would the part that doesn't slide just stay exposed? Does the edge get smashed if you load stuff up against the back seat, like suitcases?

I'm actually wanting to see a weathertech cargo liner on the sliding rear cargo tray. I'm curious how it would work with the tray. Would the part that doesn't slide just stay exposed? Does the edge get smashed if you load stuff up against the back seat, like suitcases?

Yes it would but it would take shape again. You could also use the non sliding tray liner to cover the other areas but it would be a pain to slide.

Unless I'm clicking the wrong buttons, it looks like WeatherTech doesn't have a cargo liner for the slide-out cargo tray, at least on their web site. I tell it that I don't have 3rd row seats, then it asks "Does the vehicle have a slide-out cargo tray?" and the only answer in the drop-down list is "No". In part because of this ambiguity, and also since I wanted to see the actual cargo liner before buying it, I opted for the Toyota cargo liner. It was $100 and I could play around with it before buying it. I attached a bunch of pics - different angles and various slide positions - to give you an idea of how it works. I would imagine that the WeatherTech liner would be pretty much the same. When I need to load something big and flat that would squish the raised edge, I just take the liner out temporarily. It was $20 less than the WeatherTech (non-slider) liner, and it even says "4Runner" on it in big letters as a helpful reminder for those of us that are old and feeble-minded and tend to forget what we're driving.

How does that cargo mat attach to the slider? I really like that!!

It just slips down over the edges of the slider tray and seems to stay put just fine.

Currently I have a Husky liner and its ok at best. Protection wise it covers the entire cargo area (even the area with the hidden storage near the rear seats). However, because its bigger then the slide out cargo tray, and does not mount to it, it pretty much makes the slide out tray useless.

Wow, I really like that mat! I'm definately leaning towards the Toyota mat now, even though I haven't seen the Weathertech. Thanks for posting the pics!

I have the front and rear weathertech's and love them. I have dogs, but they stay in the cargo area. Regardless, the weathertech's cover 100% of the carpet and nothing is getting through. Weathertech doesn't make a cover for the sliding tray so I went with the Canvasback cover. It is great and appears to be impervious to wet dogs and everything else I have thrown back there. I also have Wet Okole seat covers and they too are great.

First, the Weathertech liners are THE only way to go. I have a friend that had I bottle of gear oil spill on his. We noticed something dripping out of his rig. We opened his door and a stream of oil poured out. Nothing went on his carpet. The liner washed off.

Spend the money and get the best.

Do you have a part number for the cover?

I went into the dealer's parts department a few weeks after buying the 'Frunner and asked if they had a cargo mat for the slider - they came up with part number PT218-89110 "TRAY CARGO SLIDE". They had to order it, but assured me that once it arrived I could come in and try it in the vehicle before buying it. The spouse liked the looks of it, so that clinched it.

Whenever hauling coolant, oil, or anything wet and leakable, it goes in the back in a plastic tub, bungied to the cargo tie-downs.
