weird noise after installing new tie rods and LBJ's

Hey guys, so i put in all new inner and outer tie rods as well as lower ball joints. I torqued everything to spec and took it for a test drive.. i get a clanking noise when finishing a turn and sometimes coming to a stop.. or when moving the outer tie rod by putting a wrench on the lock nut (and spinning the OTR half an inch or so - what the ball joint on the tie rod end will move) .. Here is a video and photo of what i was doing.. any ideas?? i swapped out all these parts because of a loose tire (wobble side to side) and some noises.. im trying to remember if this was already there lol ugh

ps. it is much louder in the video than real life.. but definitely noticeable and it is going for an alignment very soon.. i just dont want to get bent over in what "they" think is wrong. thanks!

I couldnt tell what you were doing in that video. But my first thought is the steering rack. Pull the boots off both sides of the rack and look at the rack ends. Have someone turn the wheel back and forth while you look at the gear shaft going into the rack and see if theres any play in it. You can also test it by hand.

ya sorry, the vid was more targeted towards the noise, if you know how you can spin the outer tie rod a bit that is when the noise comes.. sounds like its coming somewhere from the inner tie rod (but to me there is no part on it that could make that noise, so i guess ill have to investigate the rack.. aghh)

Ya as long as the inner tie rod is tight against the gear shaft then the only place that could be coming from is the rack. Is it coming from the driver side?

I just looked at your picture and saw that its the driver side. This may be you issue . . .

Okay I lifted the driver wheel and checked for play.. Found more or less none, I did notice the driver side sway bar link bushing is totally mangled and split. Anyone hear of noises coming from that?

Also when I went to jack the wheel up I used the lower control arm and as soon as I lifted it a centimeter I heard the noise..

Can you feel it in the steering wheel when you hear the noise? If yes, rack related. If no, probably sway bar.

Not an exact science obviously but should put you on the right path.

I actually have heard noises coming from my bushings there got them replaced and tightened them up and no issues anymore, it kinda sounded like it was from the shocks from what I thought like a thunk sound but traced it down to those bushings.

thanks for the input! i had an alignment done and asked my mech to try and diag the noise.. we came to the conclusion it was a sway bar link.. but the one he thought was busted was the one i just replaced 2 months ago.. so anyway i havent been able to drive it but i did put in a new link and i greased the bushings on the bar.. we will see eeeek

oh also has anyone experienced extreme difficulty removing the bracket for the sway bar to replace the bushings?? i can get one nut off but the bolt is not budging and acting as it is stripped.. it feels fine but the socket will not stick.. any ideas? thanks!
