Westin or N-Fab?

The insurance company has agreed to replace my nerf bars from my little run-in (slide-in) with a retaining wall during the last snow. I didn't even notice they were damaged until a week later.

Not even sure if I can swing this with the insurance company/body shop yet, but it just so happens that N-Fabs are right about the same price as my Westin Oval SS nerf bars. I am thinking about asking if they will replace with the N-fabs instead.

What is the opinion of the group? I would plan on doing the rocker trim, thereby increasing my ground clearance...I think it may be a nice upgrade to compliment my new lift.

Ready...break!

I'll just let you guess my answer.

Nfab gets my vote if you are doing nerf bars. they seem to tuck up under the rocker and hold closer to the body than other brands.

I would say for a few dollars more and since you are doing the rocker trim, might as well put some sliders on there. I saw on the Nfab website that they also make some "rock rails" Probably not as beefy as SW,BB, etc but price is a little lower. There are also some steps you could add on to them if you need the steps. Then remove them for off road if you needed. Don't know how nasty I would get with these compared to the SW,BB's though.

Manufacturers of high quality Nerf Steps, Prerunners, Harley Bars, Light Bars, Replacement Front Bumpers, Rock Rails, Rear Runners, Tire Carriers & Truck Accessories

I wish I had a few extra hundred to throw in to get real sliders...but I don't. I don't plan on doing any rock crawling...just some light stuff a couple times a year when I go camping/mtn biking. Truck is my DD and the family trip vehicle. I would never hear the end of it if I did some serious trail damage.

My vote unless you really need sliders:

Powdercoat? Textured Black?

I am noticing that there is a powdercoat finish (T1064) and a textured black finish (T1064-TX). The powdercoat picture looks shiny? You guys that have them (Antman, etc...) all look to be a matte black finish? Can someone confirm this for me? Best price appears to be here 2011 Toyota 4runner TRAIL N-Fab Nerf/Step Bars (Wheel to Wheel) which has been mentioned in several threads. Can anyone confirm the part# they ordered and/or finish details?

I bought mine from Kraeken. Not sure where he got them. TRhe finish is matt- matches the Gobi and the black trim around your windows perfectly.

Mine are T1064 in matte. Bought them last October from 4Wheel Parts ship to store for pickup, Free shipping. Paid $330 and received a $50 rebate card from 4Wheel Parts.

My vote is for the Nfab as well but just a heads up though, they only fit the Trail edition without modification. I have a Trail but some of the other guys here can give you a better idea what you need to do to fit an SR5.

I do realize that the N-Fabs fit the TE. I am prepared and capable of doing what is necessary. That being said, I talked to the body shop this morning... They had already ordered the Westins! WTF? I hadn't even had a discussion with them about what the nerf bars even were. I asked them to cancel that order and order me the N-Fabs. He told me that he didn't know if he could cancel the Westin order and he would have to get back to me. That was early this morning and of course I never herd back from the guy. I am afraid I am stuck with the Westins. Anyone looking for some? I may have some brand new ones for sale very soon. Thinking about selling the Westin bull bar too. Figures that for once the shop was on top of things. If I hadn't wanted something different, they probably wouldn't have ordered anything yet.

Thanks to everyone for your input. Not that I needed much persuasion....but I went with the N-Fabs. The body shop was able to cancel the Westin order they had already placed and place the order for the N-Fabs. The body work on my truck is done, so I can pick her up tomorrow :reddance:. N-Fabs are on order, so I will have to go back and get those when they come in. Soooo excited for the N-Fabs. I know they aren't legit sliders, but they are one step in the right direction. Look for pictures in the next 1-2 weeks. Now I gotta read up on rocker panel trimming !
