What aftermarket head unit are you running?

Still have my OEM cd/cassette deck and while it works just fine (hell even the lights still work in it), I need to update for that sweet USB port. Also, not sure what the advantage of a double din is over single besides a bigger screen vs a extra cubby hole with a single.

Not running an amp for my door speakers either, so curious as to what units have the most RMS, so far the JVC seems the most powerful.

I'm not a big audio guy so I can't speak for the specs but I went with the Blaupunkt NJ 220 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_023NJ220BT/Blaupunkt-New-Jersey-220-BT.html. It sounds great to me and is a very clean looking headunit. I wanted a double din to keep it looking stock.

Im running this Sony Xplod unit. It was the cheapest one they had in stock and he removed $10 from the price. I think it came to a total of $80 CAD.
It has a line in and USB. Works fine for the stock stereo. Im happy with it.

I have an old school Alpine CDM-9803.... but I never installed it.

So instead, I'm still running the OEM radio. Everything works (even my power antenna!), but it's finicky with CDs.
Truth be told, more often than not, Radio's off anyway. I'm so paranoid with this truck that I prefer listening to vehicle sounds, lol.

I installed a Kenwood KDC-X599 last month. I've very happy with the sound but if I had it to do again I would go with a double din unit.

The low radio position combined with glare on the screen makes it so I can't read anything during the day.

I run a Pioneer DEH-P490IB, its not new by any means, but has Ipod control and that is what i wanted. i wish it wasnt blue in color lighting wise but oh well. i bought it off ebay and it was already setup for a Toyota Tacoma, so i had to add a few wires for the rear speakers and it was all good.

Ive got a kenwood and ive had them in my last 2 trucks. Theyre fairly inexpensive and work great.

I put in a Kenwood Excelon DD unit from Crutchfield. Kinda blingish, which I wasn't trying to go for but it interfaces with my Samsung Tab S2 like an iPod so I'm cool with it.

Pioneer AVIC-5200NEX. I've had it for a couple weeks and so far I'm not impressed. I had the SPH-DA120 in my Tundra and loves it so I thought "Why not go a step up and get the same thing with independent nav for when I don't have cell service?" Bottom line, not worth the $750. Pioneer's Nav software sucks. It's glitchy and difficult to use. Not to mention the touchscreen doesn't work properly. I think I'm going take it back and downgrade back to the 120 until I can build an actual carputer.

The 5v pre-outs and the 28bit DSP are great but it doesn't play FLAC? Why the hell would Pioneer do that? Every audiophile has a huge Flac library.

Yeah gotta say, nothing can be considered "audiophile" unless it supports FLAC. I'd actually prefer just a USB port or two, and radio abilities, pretty much all I need. Would prefer to find a HU with good built in amp, usb, FLAC, double din, radio. I don't need a damn CD player or w/e. A 32bg mini flash drive or bigger is sweet to just leave plugged in and no dicking around with your phone.

Totally worth it and if you want to save some cash just buy it as grey market on eBay. I think I paid like $230 on ebay 2 years ago.

Absolutely awesome radio and the display is worth the upgrade cost. It isn't that this display is a gift from God or anything, just that the other Alpine single DIN displays are pretty crappy and look like they are from the 90s. Seriously the other single DIN displays look like they cost $20 in parts in 2006. I have no idea what Alpine's problem is with single DIN displays, Kenwood seems to have the same challenges.

Re the whole FLAC conversation, if you have hd Bluetooth can't you just use your phone to natively play FLAC and stream it via Bluetooth? I found the Bluetooth (v4.0) on the 149BT streamed from my Nexus7 2013 to be near indistinguishable from audio CD.
