What air freshener??

I'm starting to learn some of the personalities on this forum. I'm guessing [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION] is like the richest dude here. Dude knows how to save money! I love this idea.

Personally I like to self freshen my vehicles with the "I just drank a huge protein shake" smell...Especially with people in the car and complete control of the window locks

Try it one time. You will never use anything else. I don't do it to save money I use them because we always have them in the laundry room. Plus you never see them as they are under the seat.
I definitely am not cheap but I like the more is less approach and I have never been a "me too" guy. Dryer sheets. Try them.

I like a manly scent so I take an old pine tree air freshener that has out lived its' usefulness and soak it with Hoppe's #9. Just kidding, but wouldn't it be great if someone made one that smelled like BBQ smoke?

they used to last 6 months back in the day, but now they only last a couple of months, 3 months if you keep it mostly closed. The amber is a manly smell, sort of a musk or cologne, the peach, not so much. The juicy is very fruity smelling, I like that and the amber and emerald.
You can get it on ebay or just google it, several places sell them now, including some of the larger asian markets.
And yes, this is a funny thread! But there ain't nothing wrong in making your 4 runner smell nice! It sure beats having one that smells like a cat's arse!

Air fresheners give me an instant headache, so I just don't do stinky things in the truck.

I dunno... a 4Runner that smells like a cat's arse has some advantages. For one, nobody asks if you can drive a second time! :barf:
Like the ideas. My truck (Ram, not 4Runner) decided to leak water through the 3rd brake light... I have since sealed it, but have a nice musty/mildew smell in the headliner. It's getting better (or I'm getting used to it) but am considering some air fresheners. Either that or I need to pull the liner and give it a good cleaning on both sides. But I'm lazy, so I'll probably just use an air freshener.

I use a Febreeze vent clip style. I like the Greek Seaside one, the only sea related one that doesn't smell like suntan lotion! There's scratch and sniff stickers on the packaging so that you can smell them before you buy. They're a couple bucks at your local Walmart and are good for about a month or more depending on how much you run your fan. I run mine all the time so never see more than a month out of them. They seem last longer in the winter, maybe something to do with heating up the scent?
I hadn't considered soaking cardboard in Hoppe's 9! although I've been learning the wonders of Frog Lube CLP recently, although it's much too expensive for something like that!
As for BBQ or Wood Smoke, has anyone tried taking a bit of charred wood from a fire or firebox and putting it in a ventilated container say under the seats?
