I found the thread about Inifinity's Kappa popping and using bass blockers to stop the popping. Just wondering if others Kappa's pop with volume just a little over half way up? I did not see this issue mentioned in this thread.

I have the JBL GTO 3 1/2" in my dash. I think it is the same thing with different packaging and branding, both made by Harman. You can get them from the JBL site directly for $99
I think they sound great for the price
I did these in my 370Z and they are outstanding.

SO I just removed the offending Kappa, and it basically fell apart in my hand! all the glue was dried out and brittle.
I just bought a set of the Polks on eBay, and I'll look into doing Polks for the front doors as well, I just need to figure out what size. (I know, search is my friend.)

I did 6x9 RFs in the front and they fit with a little grinding. Polks would have taken less work. I also did Infinities in the front doors of my previous 5th gen.
Anyone evere fit 4s in the dash? I had a badass 3 way setup in the tacoma with 8s in the doors and 4"s and tweets in custom kick pods. Well I still have a leftover center channel with a 4" and 2 tweets and the extra mid still in box. I was thinking of using my diamond audio setup in the dash and some 8s or large 6.5s in the doors. I have crossovers for the DATs in a 3 way and 2 way so I could go either way with em. Thoughts suggestions ideas? All are appreciated and thank you

I'm guessing probably not. Based on what I saw when I installed the Kappas, I'm doubting that 4" speakers would fit in the dash openings without major reworking. Someone could prove me wrong, however.

I've seen it done but u are right. Major cutting of steel and plastic and removing duct for side defrosters. System did not sound that great so to me, it seemed like a waste of time , money and effort.

I agree that trying to fit 4" speakers in the dash doesn't seem worth the effort.
Even if you found one that worked well firing off the windshield you'd have problems integrating with a tweeter. You'd either have to mount it in the same spot or have lots and lots of tuning.
A 3.5" wideband is much much easier to install and plays 250-350 on up.
In a previous car I went from a 2 way (6.5 woofer + 3.5 wideband) to a 3 way with same 6.5 and using a 4" mid with 1" tweeter. There was a noticeable improvement in detail in the midrange. However, the mid was mounted right next to the tweeter in custom a-pillars. Even then, the difference wasn't huge.

Do these adapters fit the dash speakers (the subject of this thread) as well? Crutchfield says they only fit the door speakers.
I have Kappas installed, but for some reason one of my OEM connectors went tits-up, so I need to find a replacement or workaround. Replacement through Toyota is damn near close to $100.

They sure do! I used them when I replaced factory dash, doors, and hatch speakers.

I just went down to BestBuy and bought the adapter for $14.99, and I didn't open them because I didn't think they would work. Here's why:
I don't think there's any way these will fit...
I used these:

but only for the all the door speakers.
I just soldered the kappa's/bass blockers. Not all that happy with them though, much too bright and 6x9's need to be full range to bring the stage up front more...it will be fixed this week.
