WHAT ARE THE FAST THAT A 4RUNNER CAN GO ?(higher velocity)

I want to know how fast can a 4runner can be driven(drived) cause I travel sometimes and sometimes in the highway I push the gas pedal until 90 miles , but I need opinions about the engine and stability of the truck, how can be considered dangerous speed on a truck? well i cant re edit the poll lets see more liers here i know 4rnr isnt meant for speed but it shurely speed well...

There's no such thing as a vehicle from the 80s till date, if on par with factory specifications, that can't do a 100mph all day. Not saying you should break the law, but 4Runners will do 100mph all day and all night long. Ask your tires to return the favor.

Are you talking about only older 4runners or all like the newer ones? I took my friends 02 4runner up to 105 MPH but it took a while. the stability is ok as long as the driver is good and concentrating at the matter at hand.

My 02 has no probs going to 105 but it takes a while to hit the limiter lol.

There is no way a 4runner will reach the speeds mentioned last two options in your poll (129 and 150).

I have driven my truck up to about 90mph off road and 110-115 on road. Way too fast in both cases.

You can get a 4runner to go to those speeds. in the case of mine (4th gen V6) you have to use the APR X1 and go to a APR shop to enter some code (have to get high speed rated tires) and it defeats the speed limiter. 150 is pushing it however its possible. you can do them with 3rd gens just go to urd.

there's absolutely no way 260hp will overcome the rolling resistance of a 31" tire and push a 4500lb brick through the air at 150mph.

Even with 300hp a 3rd gen will struggle to approach 130mph and it won't be very stable with the original suspension,these vehicles (4wd models especially) are designed with a certain amount of flex which is more than most which doesn't equal stable the faster you go.

With my 4runner 90 -95 MPH is the max I have driven it . It was so smooth that I didn't even noticed I was going that fast. but when I did I did slow down to about 75. The fastest I have driven tho' is around 110-115 with a sedan and got a Big fat ticket of $150 driving through PA...

Had mine up to 100 on a back country rd. it felt like it was hovering a little bit and swaying across the rd. but it definately had more in it.

i did 110 for 2 states all of Nevada and most of Utah, all in one strech only stopping for gas, the only time i ever ever speed like this is out in b.f.e. where your lucky to see another car every hundred miles or so.

but at that speed i have to say i was impressed response and stability was not greatly effected imo and she drove nice and smooth in the corners and the rest.




the 4runner is not a fast suv it's was never meant to be fast and in 98% of the cases a 4runner never will be fast, enjoy the truck for what it was made for, a good solid platform for exploring the further out places of our great country.

i suppose that climbing a big rock or passing a deep river gives you a lot of adrenaline rush as for others going at 115 mph, others when turn up the volume in their tunned 4runners for audio. thatis the amazing thing about human personalities the great thing that is feel alive. excuse my english :S I hope you understand me

yeah i understand you just fine, but your talking about spirit when i'm talking mechanics, if your an audio person you not going to buy 2 tweeters and blast away on those are you? no your going to buy the 12 inch kickers and bad ass deck, i'm also saying that if your a speed person your not buying a 4runner possibly one of the slowest suv's ever made lol (ok not that slow but it's down there for speed)

even with a super charger you'll be lucky to get in the 14's , point is if speed is your fix why do you buy a massive suv with a marginally undersized engine imo?


trust me i like fast trucks, my old jeep was one of the fastest suv's ever made, with only like 4-5 suvs ever being faster and alot of those weren't real suv's they were porche's and lambo's and such. it was really hard to give that up for the 4runner but again like i was saying above, suv's aren't meant to go fast.

it's like taking a audi r8 and puttign a lift and 33's on it becuase you like to go over things, you see what i'm saying, kinda of ass backwards.....

I think some of these people are confusing Kilometers per hour with Miles per hour,

thats got to be the only way that they think they have gone 150 in a 4runner.

Even if you get rid of the limiter, you are still looking at a heavy vehicle thats not built for speed

and I dont care if you have a brand new 4runner, there are 80mph rated tires out there that are cheap, that people buy, and going 100mph all day is not safe on them

You can risk your life going 110-130 or if you think 150, but Ill just let you know, unless your tires are speed rated for that, they could disintegrate instantly at those speeds.
