What are you pumping into your V6

I have a Rav4 and I'm looking at getting a 4runner. I want the V6, just wondering what every one is using for gas.

In canada
we have
87 89 91 octane

I tried to start a poll but couldn't get it to work.

Mostly Premium, But I want everything I can get out of the engine power wise. At High RPM it seems to pull a little harder with the Premium. Just my opinion and you know what those are like.

93 when gas was cheap, but only because 93 had reduced sulfur smells.

well i used to pump in 91 when it used to be cheap.. now i pump in 87 and actually get more milage out of it.. my honest opinion if your vehicle doesnt need premium gas dont pump it.. its a waste- plus as long as you follow up on your its maintenence schedule, it should be okay

I have the V8. I always use 87 and have no problems whatsoever. It hauls butt.

I use 89, and i never have had a issue. When towing i run 91.

91 is too expensive here in CA. I pump in 87 all the time now.

I have run my 05 V6 on 87 with no pinging or knocking. The need of using higher octane is a whole topic by itself. If the engine does not require to run on high octane gas, then it's fine by just regular(87,89). FYI: Lower octane gas is actually easier for spontaneous ignition. Higher octane gas is harder for "spontaneous pre-ignition", thus prevent knocking or pinging. It does not give you performance gain, if your engine doesn't require it for its optimal performance.

They are designed to run on 87 , no real reason to use anything higher in octane.

87 until I changed my plugs at 36K. After that, its a mixture of 90% mid grade. Sometimes 87 and sometimes 93. Hess gasoline, cause i save 5% everytime I use the Hess card.

The manual for the 2004 T4R says 87 for normal driving so that's what I put in. I only use 89 (or 91) when I'm either towing or up in the mountains.
