what color should i plasti dip? with pic examples

i am going to plasti dip my car once it gets worm, what colors do you guys think i should do it? here are some examples and if anyone has any other ideas let me know.
this is my car now with the colors i can use.

#1 red and black

#2 red

#3 green and black

#4 green

#5 white and brown

#6 white and blue

#7 blue and black

#8 blue and gray

#9 yellow

#10 white and gray

Are you planning on those patterns? If so, I can't think of anyone who will vote...

I would experiment with maybe doing your hood in black to see if you like it...

Bud, Plasti-dip isn't nearly as easy to work with as you might think. Plus spraying an entire car is going to take a lot of rattlecans.

I agree, it sticks to the tape like you wouldn't believe. Near impossible to get sharp paint lines. If youre gonna dip it, just do a solid color. Save yourself a huge amount of aggravation. Or, if you are going to do it, make sure you have a case of razor blades handy, and a steady hand....

Just thinking of attempting those shapes gives me the sweats. FYI some mild solvent spray paints will stick to plasti with minimal trouble. I use it all the time on camping and hunting gear for ghetto camo base. Have fun. I like the brown. My wife would kill me if I pulled that kind of stunt.

That being said, your proposed colors are possibly slightly ambitious. Start with one panel as a member said and see what you think.

how long did you let it cure before pulling the tape? I did my flares and it was a pain in the ass to get the tape up without pulling the dip with it. I wonder if I didn't wait long enough, or too long.

I'm also planning on doing a hood blackout and dont want to run into the same issue if I can avoid it.

As long as you keep that brush guard at full tilt, any of them will look good.

hmmm that must be what he's modeling it after.

If done right… you might, just MIGHT, be able to pull it off.

I'm guessing that FJ is wrapped though.

The only thing you should be plastidiping is your wheels and then covering that layer with a nice paint color.

Also loose the brush guard.


Your paint looks fine. WHy would you instantly cheapify your ride by plasti-diping the vehicle?

The idea is cool, but the color combos are horrible :behindsofa:
I've plasti dipped a good amount of things including my bumpers. All you have to do is rip the tape off before it drys and your lines come out clean.

If I were you I'd do an all black base coat, then do you digital camo on top. Like the FJ above^

Within two or three minutes of the last coat going on. Pull it at a 90 degree angle and you should be good to go.

x3 on doing it like the fj. Or option ten. I saw a slammed beamer snow camoed out that looked good. but do experiment with one panel first.

I wouldn't put plastidip on anything but small stuff like badges, I got a set of wheels that were plastidipped by the previous owner, and removing it is nowhere near as easy as people say, I've probably put 6 hours into taking the stuff off, and there are still flakes of it all over every wheel.

i dont think i am going to plasti dip the car, you guys convinced me :hail: now that i have worked with plasti dip a little i can see it wont come out as good as i am hopping even if i do it with a paint gun like i was planing, that being said i still think i am going to paint it, the FJ is a good example of what i am going for, but i don't need to only go by these colors anymore so does anyone have some good examples of what i should do?
