With the Duratracs now on the new Trail Edition, we decided to break in the new rig on a favorite road that skirts along the Three Sisters Wilderness area. about 6-8" of new snow on top and lots of ruts from the deer hunters. it warmed up considerable during the day and things got sloppy and slick, but the new shoes helped immensely - both with grip and an extra 1/2" of clearance.

Did the [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] like bike mounts the the Gobi. I Fab'd a bracket for underneath the mesh for better support and so the washers and nuts won't slip through the wide holes of the mesh.
For the bracket I went to Lowes and bought some metal scrap, it was 1/8" and 1" wide. I cut it to 2 - 8" long pieces cut with a hack saw then grinded the edges smooth. Then I measured and drilled holes for the hardware. Primed and painted black yesterday. Mounted today.
Works like a charm. I needed a bungee cord like antman to stop to rear end from bouncing around. And I don't remember the brand, but I picked up the locking type for the front fork.

The lady and I drove up Saturday night and truck camped in the White Mountain Range, just east of the Sierra's. Did some fun night driving down the dirt roads, got to use the aux. fuel tank for the 379 mile trip, and all of my aux lights. To top it off, we summited White Mountain Peak on Sunday (15.22 miles round trip, 14,252' peak, 6,600' of elevation change_ - my 3rd of the 12 14,000'+ peaks in Cali.

Its "good" but its really, really, really, got some washboard in it. I swear it felt like my truck was going to rattle apart at some points. Other than that, you could drive a Civic down to the trailhead. That is an awesome area!

So my lift was installed about a week ago and now I have just ordered some new shoes!!! 285/70/17 Duratracs :reddance: Called up Discount Tire and saved about $20 per tire! Came out to about $240 per tire. Then I'll do the $60 rebate. So a total savings of $140.

Back home...for now
Just returned from a 2000 mile road trip to NC. Unfortunately I didn't take as many shots of the truck as I would like...I guess I need to get my priorities in order. I just hit the 40,000 mile mark and I'm still excited every time I start this truck. Considering I put 300,000 on an 05 Tundra; the 4runner and I are going to be together for a while.

Went out to the OHV just before the government shut down all the parks and got myself stuck. Realized it's time to setup a recovery point so got myself some shackles, a recovery strap, and a Factor 55 Hitch Link.

Not much, maybe prevent some chaffing on the strap, maybe. You can also get the same thing without the bling for a fraction of the price elsewhere.
I would ditch that locking hitch pin, those things are brittle and break easily. I broke 2 different ones by hitting my hitch on dirt ground in my Tacoma, and had to remove one with a small hammer; only took one light hit.
