What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

So I travel primarily on my own and after a recent encounter with three idiots in a single cab GMC, I thought it was time to mount my .45 in my center console. I used my paddle holster (which happened to be on my body at the time) and it fits like a glove. As you can see the subcompact Glock 30 fits unbelievably well and can still be drawn extremely quickly. I'm not going to get into the overall details of the encounter, other than it was midnight, I was in the middle of nowhere camping, and the conversation ended very quickly when one of them said "I want those lights"...referring to my light bar. I do believe that the best way to avoid confrontation is to avoid confrontation...(if that makes sense) I never look for a fight, but when one presents itself...BE READY for anything. I will say this...I spent 12 years as a Recon Marine and they were lucky I was a good mood. :lol:

Nice work. I've considered this mod for my XD. Does it make the lid hard to hold open?

I'll probably end up with a console vault.

No, not really. I mean, it's a .45 so with 10 and 1 it's got some weight to it anyways. The pistol doesn't touch the walls of the console, so it's not rubbing or scratching.

Curious why you didn't remove/replace the UCA's at the same time. Much easier to remove/replace the coilover with the UCA out of the way.

Yeah...originally I was going to do it all at the same like and remove the UCA instead of the LCA to do the sp8ball/antman spring decompression method, but I was not sure if I might over extend the CV joints that way since it seems like you really need drop it pretty far down for the spring to decompress all the way.

Plus, I figured I might as well just do the install incrementally, so I can better isolate and detect strange noises by testing it out after each round of install. The bright side is I took this opportunity to drop my LCA and clean out/lube all the cam bolts with anti-seize. Glad I did because there was already a decent amount of rust on the bolts, only after 1 year

285/70/17. I may have to get rid of the Spidertrax with the 285', a little more rubbing than I care for even with the fender liner moved. Although it is only is reverse just before full lock.

SUCCESS!!



It has not settled yet, but I took a rough measurement and I'd say it's just about leveled all around (~36.5-37" @ each fender measured from the ground up). 100% stock rear suspension and OME 883 up front with 5100s at the stock perch.

Big thanks to [MENTION=74569]SOcalTRAIL[/MENTION] for his tips on getting the front KDSS bar back on. Following his instructions, you can have it back on in 5-10 mins flat. Of course I took the long way at first and spent almost an hour experimenting, lol.

I hope that once I get my rear SAWs on, I will get back the factory rake, as I actually prefer it that way. But for those of you looking to just go completely level, I think 883s up front would just about do that for you.

I keep my little guy in here while traveling long distances or to parks, as seen w/ Foxx paddle holster, fits surprisingly well. Additionally, I will always have my Glock 19 or XD9 on my hip. And if I'm going in to the National Parks w/Bears and weirdO's, I take my Mossy 500.
