What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

It's true that you can take off keyed lug nuts very easily, BUT it is still an extra step vs no keyed lug nuts at all. Let's put it this way, if you have two identical cars in the parking lot with identical rims, one locked with a keyed lug nut and one without. Which car would a thief be more likely to steal from if they were out to steal a set of those wheels?

Security is about deterrence, not prevention. If someone wants it bad enough, they will get it, but it doesn't mean we should just not bother, lol.

I had my Taco stolen twice over the decades. In both cases they took everything off of it /except/ the wheels. They basically need the wheels to drive it from the stripping garage out somewhere far away in a residential area and leave it there. Without the wheels they can't dump it.

5 days of epic pow!

Got a souvenir from a Teton Village snow bank on the rear quarter panel there. I was winning the Jackson leg of the WRC and caught a little bank on corner exit. I swear these trucks are soft. I didn't think we brushed hard enough to dent. No one else in the truck thought so either. Oh well, I suppose an email to CBI is in order...

Later I saw a funny looking dog on red mountain pass.

Later I saw a funny looking dog on red mountain pass.

I'm jealous of seeing that dog. I was really hoping for seeing a sheep last summer when I was up there. Also how's the snow pack this year? Think trails will be clear by June?

The snow pack is pretty terrible this year honestly. We are getting some late season storms but not much. They start clearing ophir and some others pretty early and those can be super fun to drive through the big snow walls. (see my post in the classics section for example)
There should be some trails open by June but not all of them. Black bear and imogene are usually late to open given their elevation, and I don't believe they do much if any clearing up there.

Breaking-In My New Truck (Again)

I just barely got it up last night, please ignore the multitude of spelling issues for now

It was a sick trip, the smallest day was 8". Last day was 19" over night.
I dropped a 15 footer blind apparently into a local arrangement of willows. Rode out but took some to the nose. didnt realize I was bleeding, skied into the lift line and was met with some puzzled looks. Good times.

Nice! I prefer to be surprised by cliff drops, etc.. vs. purposely going over them but definitely don't like falling into trees as they tend to not give too much. I wish we had 8" days for days on end... Best was 3-5ft storm a couple weeks ago...made for a great morning competing for fresh lines. The problem is it gets cut up so damn fast and a lot of runs become mogul central - not my cup of tea - I like POW. I board and ski - but love boarding. Already broke a Lib Tech Skunk Ape (dropping onto some boulders) and GNU Carbon Credit (massive core shots and edge blowout), besides a pair of Fisher skis this year - rough year. Replaced with a Jones Flagship - talk about a hard base!

I was pretty much directly on the west side, just a couple miles north of where the 78 ends. I've explored from there, down south and aroud the east, mud volcanoes, abandoned beach camping area and far as north on the east side as Bombay Beach. That place is somewhat of a madhouse of photographers I kind of felt embarassedto be there.

The northern route, including Salvation Mountain, and all the mountains to the east are still virgin exploration territory for me

Called CBI about my bumper. I'm probably a week and a half out from getting it....maybe. I still working on rigging some sort of hose system for my rotopax. Water has always been a concern when traveling for me considering how much running I do.

This is the highest part of the trail overlooking the rather angry Northeast River!

Signed up for driving and recovery classes at the Overland Expo in Flagstaff. Can't wait to try their trails and hear what the pros have to say.
