It was pretty kicka$$ to say the least. Got up at the butt-crack of dawn on Sunday, cooked some breakfast over a portable stove, packed up and headed out to the part of the routed beyond Vista del Malpais.

The route heading South was killer. The terrain got a tad bit more interesting cause of the looser sand, gustier winds and slightly rockier paths. Quite memorable to say the least. Most of the trails after Fault Wash lead South so it was cool to snake through to get to The Slot.

In retrospect, I wish I would've tracked the route... specifically for night cruising. This specific part of the trip was super easy to navigate, though. Just make sure to lookout for posts that mark the trails. Getting to Font's Point and Malpais is a cinch - You hit it from the town of borrego by following Pal Canyon Dr. It's basically West to East. After Malpais, you'll hit a fork - take the right to Fault Wash and right again at Cut Across Trail. The rest is just heading South... any way your heart pleases, until you reach the 78.

The Budbuilt hidden winch and Warn M8000 are installed now. I also installed my RCI aluminum LCA skids. They were so pretty I couldn't bring myself to paint them. Gotta say, the quality, packaging and customer service are top notch. I'll eventually be replacing my ARB skids with RCIs.

So what was the issue with the fairlead?

I platsidipped my overhead console. The previous owner must have had claws because the sun-glass holder had scratches where you press to open. Tomorrow I'm painting my calipers and hopefully my roof rack.

Simple fix. We flipped it around 180-degrees.
