What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

So that's how you do it! I was too lazy to search youtube any longer and figure out the logistics behind keeping it one solid strand so I gave up. But thanks very much for the pictorial, I'll be sure to try it out on my next project

Now I didn't determine this scientifically by any means, but I think melting the center loop together is more for aesthetics than anything...I think the friction from the cobra weave holding the two center piece side by side keeps the joint from pulling apart? I made sure to keep the joint smack in the middle of the loop for maximum cobra weaving gripping strength.

I tested this by make an open ended loop with a short piece and braiding ~3" of cobra weave down it, then hanging from the loop with all my weight...nothing gave out, lol.

I don't think fusing it together makes it weak because it is rock solid when you burn it! I think it's weaker than leaving it one strand though, but that's just my opinion, also no data to back it up lol. Plus like you said the cobra weave does a good job "constricting" the loop.

Yes, just a standard cobra weave that most paracord bracelets are made of. Basically I made a long loop out of a piece of paracord by melting the ends together, then I started braiding the cobra weave while one end of the loop is around the headrest post. Repeat it over and over again till you get close to the other end and throw that loop around the headrest post and braid until the loop is taut.

I actually ran out of paracord while working on the double cobra. So I had to piece together the last inch and a half. That bothered me enough that I went and bought more paracord this morning and did a set in neon green and black, but I don't have pictures of those yet.

Took the truck up to Citrus WMA and hit trails all over the Withlacoochee forest. Some slight elevation changes (it's Florida) to scramble up and down, lots of clay and almost no one else on the fire trails on a beautiful Saturday morning.

Really just made me jealous of the terrain out west . . . But I had FUN!

I wouldn't really say advanced. I'd use youtube educated. I started doing paracord about a year ago when I was looking for a duck call lanyard. I couldn't find something that I really liked so I decided to learn.

I really only know how to do a cobra, 4 braid round, helix, shark tooth, and I've not really sat down to learn any more.

Thanks again for the idea! I wanted to do with the regular grab handles but never got around to it.

Long over due post… Had a buddy come in last week from back home in MN and we took a drive. Went from Seattle, to Mount St. Helens and spent a few hours at this National Park. After, we drove down to Portland, ate, drank and got some Voodoo Donuts. Stayed the night in PDX then went to the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville, OR, only because they have the Spruce Goose. I took many pictures of that ginormous wooden plane and they just don’t do it justice. It is just insanely large.

Then popped over to the Tillamook Cheese Factory for some cheese samples and ice cream. Continuing the drive up US 101 (Pacific Coast Highway) stopped off at Cannon Beach, OR and let my dog run around chasing the waves and seagulls while looking at Haystack Rock, that’s the rock from The Goonies. We eventually ended up in Astoria, OR and went to the house from the Goonies.

Getting back on US 101 we spent a few hours at Cape Disappointment, which is a Washington State Park. They have two really great lighthouses and many trails; one of the best state parks in WA (my opinion). They even rent the Lighthouse Keepers houses.

Many beautiful miles later on 101, we drove back to Seattle. It was a great 34-hour , 700mi road trip.

Also, about 3 weeks ago went down to [MENTION=54404]jbstrd[/MENTION] house to get my Shrockwork Sliders installed. They look great.

Hauled ass to Vegas, had dinner, gambled for an hour, went to bed, checked out NAB for 6 hours, drove home, another day would have been nice. All to see....(among a few other things)

This...this...and this...Well the second and third were just bonus
