Did the recharge procedure on my K&N today. Not sure it's worth the mess and time. An OEM paper filter is looking attractive.

Always heard great things about WIX filters and decided to give them a try. I've used everything from K&N, to HKS to cheapo autozone filters and honestly never really noticed a difference between any of them. The K&N were just too much maint. on my last 2 vehicles so I got rid of them.

Just ordered a set of Sliders from Shrockworks. Had them do custom full length dimple tread for me. Wife is worried about future kids falling through any gaps :roadkill: Should have them in about ooooh 3months haha. Worth the wait it seems.

Dropped off my unit to my trusted local mechanic (former lead tech at the Toyota dealership in town) on the way to work and got a quick service done in preparation for my Alaska trip in 2 weeks. Oil, filter, lube, a quick once-over peek for any issues I may have missed, tire rotation (with a quick brake inspection,) and he was also kind enough to run it to the glass shop for me when he was done, since I work out of town all day.

The glass shop popped in a long-overdue windshield for me - now I'll be able to see the road in HD!!

Then I stopped by the Toyota dealer for a fresh cabin air filter, and had the new service manager stare at my truck with a hard-on. We chatted for a few minutes and I passed off contact info for the shop in Calgary that I order most of my parts from - I'm sure some poor sucker will be paying a premium to drive a modded unit out of the showroom in the near future.

So how the heck do you remove this piece of trim that runs along the windshield for the wiring to go behind? I can't get it to budge and tore off a little piece at the top trying.

nvm, figured out you can just use a screw driver and wedge the wire in between the rubber and side of the body. Now to just get it through the firewall.....

I believe the harness is 16 gauge. I found the place to pass through, but the harness has a plug connector on it. I'll probably have to cut it and do 1 wire at a time, then re-attach the connector.

Haha yep! I still have the catalytic converters and stock sway bars too. I really need to haul them off to the dump. Thought I'd put them on CL and try to sell them, but I've been to lazy to do it lol.

Are you Crazy? I would have ground my concrete slab down before touching the antenna (sat reception is bad enough!)..........



..........Kidding and I do not use sat. radio but have heard of others saying the reception isn't the best.

Installed my 5100s 2 weeks ago and finally got it aligned. Took it out to Lake Mead today. Thanks to everyone that contributed info on how to lift a 5th gen! You guys were right. Reinstalling that sway bar on a vehicle with KDSS can be a pain!
