What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

What I did - Was thankful I bought some rock sliders:

Parked to offload some gear, and some lady in a BRAND NEW mercedes parks right next to me. Of course she's on the phone, with her coffee, and she doesn't even look before swinging her driver's door out full bore. SMACK against my right rock slider, leaving a softball sized dent in her door.

She begins flipping her shit as I walk out (barely a mark on the powder coating, haha), as she's essentially rage crying. She's so upset, that she's trying to get my insurance information, then she gets it in her head (a gamble perhaps) to claim the rock sliders are somehow illegal. She calls the cop while I and witnesses are just dumbfounded.

Cops show up 5 minutes later, take one look at the situation, compliment me on the 4Runner, and then drive off. She struck me (pardon the pun) as the kind of person who had I not had the rock sliders, and had bashed my door, would have driven off without leaving any information.

Honestly one of the main reasons I bought my sliders. Too many careless people out there. You should have asked for her insurance and claimed she damaged the finish on the sliders and they need to be re-coated. I'm sure the cops would have favored on your side for that one. :bounce:

One of my favorite spots to camp here is (39.792271, -105.681622). Last year we couldn't really make it any higher but this place had great views and some shelter from the rain. It does get a bit cool in early June though since it's still up there.

Over the weekend (Friday afternoon to Sunday evening!!!) I installed the Shrockworks front and rear bumpers on my 14' Trail with an Engo 10,000lb winch in front. I am very happy with them but the install wasn't without its hiccups (to be kind). Overall the process was smooth, but had to make a few trips to Home Depot for hardware that was not included. Still need to install a replacement backup camera and the reverse lights in the bumper housings.

Truck too small....lift truck. After lift I hear weird noise when wheel is turned completely and backing up. Ignore noise it will go away on its own right? Dropped truck to get wheel alignment, phone rings, "Hey your truck is ready, alignment is all done and went great......oh and you need a new wheel bearing in the front right wheel. Be about $400-$500." How is that great alignment guy!!:dammit::violin::beer:

Yeah it happens daily to me. People always look at my rig two ways (the guys love it, the girls with the guys glare at me..the single girls smile and like it). I've had people put their doors into my sliders on a weekly timeclock it seems. After totally scratching my paint to shreds on my overland trip, im currently dragging my feet to buff them out. Most likely wlill work on getting the scratches out this weekend before returning to work. Though with a kid I don't stress about my look of the rig. He slams the door no matter how often I say gentle and runs into it with his bike (lol).

On a side note [MENTION=124732]LawnDart[/MENTION] Looking to go to browns the June 20th. Interested? Be pretty mild run, nothing crazy but I wanna take a look at some of the new trails they put in.

Whenever someone starts threatening legal action or claims something I did is illegal, I stop talking to them, tell them I won't say anything until I talk to a lawyer, and then I start recording the entire thing, and say that it's evidence for the trial.

I had some fat chick do the same thing to my old pickup truck. She hit it so hard my alarm went off as I'm walking out of the store. I made it a point for her to see me shut the alarm off, and I said "try not to hurt your car too much hitting mine".

Thanks! First thing would be to make absolutely certain they sent you all the correct hardware for the bumper install - you'll more than likely have to go to a hardware store to get additional hardware. I had to get some for the front and the rear. Also, while you're there, you'll need some extended bolts in order to bolt the fair-lead, winch, bumper together - I cannot recall exactly how long they were, but I think I used 1.5 in bolts. Here in VA we need a front license plate and I had to get additional bolts/nuts/washers for that too.

Mounting the solenoid box: I mounted mine in the location recommended by the shrockworks directions (which show a 10-13' bracket - the 14' is different). I simply zip-tied it in very securely which seems like it'll work just fine. I'll just have to replace the zipties every year or so. For the bumper install, you'll have to bend some radiator metal tubes - no big deal, but go VERY slow if using your hands which is what I did. You can clock your winch to access the in/out lever in the front cutout, or do what I did and cut out an arm-sized hole in the plastic above the lever and above the winch controller plug at the solenoid box. I'll try to post some pics of that - not the prettiest setup, by I don't care - it works. Lastly, the in/out lever hits the power steering line, so I had to bend the thumb-sized brackets towards the engine to give it a little room.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll try to help out - you should be fine though.
