Installed the RCI TRD filler plate:
A question, for those that have installed these before, the top of the filler plate touches/snugs up against the cross member. i.e there's no gap. That's normal right?
I will double check but I am pretty sure there are spacers for the rear of the skid that you install between the cross member and the skid. I also had to use some spacers I had lying around for the front due to the skid contacting the front diff. It might have not been necessary but I figured that the aluminum wouldn't do its job during a hard landing if the skid contacted the diff.

Let me know. I'm using the spacers which go between the bottom of the cross member and the top of the RCI plate. I talked to Josh @ RCI, and he said that the spacers are so that when you snug the bolts down the plate doesn't bow, but that the integration plate and the bottom of the cross member is correct, as it gives it added rigidity.
Yep. There is a spacer. I have the full skids but I don't think that should matter. I found that if I didn't use the spacer it would be making contact with the front diff.

I would say you are good to go then. I had tight clearance on the diff as well as the exhaust under the TC. Took a good while to get them all lined up and tightened. Are you going to get the full skid package soon? Your truck will look even better seeing the gas tank skid from the profile view. :tongue:

I don't have TRD, though my RCI skid touches the radiator support bracket.

No plans for the full skid package...yet. I have something in the works however that'll be pretty cool.

That's why I had to add a front spacer along with the rear. It seemed to fix the problem.

I used the spacer for the front of the integration skid. Ordered the extra bolts kit that included spacers but contacted Josh at RCI and he included another set of spacers. So all four corners have the spacers to clear the front dif.
Something about the measurement used in the Trail vehicle they originally used as a template that was different than the TRD's for some reason.

Brought the 4Runner inside
Moved some boats into the new boat shed my mother-in-law built me at her place (yes, she likes me and it's only 10 minutes away) and made room in the garage for the 4Runner. First time in my life I've had room inside for my daily driver. I've always had a boat or race car in the garage. I could get used to this....or maybe buy another boat.

Kinda confused, mine went on without any issues, no need to install the nylon spacers in the front. Am I missing something?
The front 2 mounts ended up nice and flush with the surfaces and the bolts went in easy. If I used spacers on the front it'd likely create a lip from dropping it further down, or something that could get snagged against and do more damage.
Again not sure if I'm the odd man out, or if Josh maybe made the front mounts a little taller, but I followed the instructions to the letter.

It went on fine at first. I was about to put the nylon spacers in the back as per the instructions but as I pushed the back closer to the cross member to bolt on I felt resistance from the skid. I looked as to what could be giving me resistance and noticed that the bottom of the front diff. was making contact.
I then switched the spacer to the front and that gave me enough clearance (like 1/4") to clear the front diff. and no bending.
Put on the additional spacers provided by RCI Metalworks after informing them of what I ran into. so it all seems to fit correctly now with a nylon spacer on each of the four mounting points for the integration skid.
The spacer up front did create a small edge but so far it hasn't seemed to be an issue on my last wheelin outing.
It's quite possible that RCI made some adjustments after feedback from the early integration skid buyers and later buyers aren't running into the contact with the front diff. issue.
