What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Added a carrier to my HitchGate for my TRED's .

My initial plan was to use Yakima SpareTime parts I acquired to mount the TREDs vertically on the spare tire.

I used some scrap 1/2 inch plywood to make a mount. Sprayed it with bedliner.

Finished mount.........not so fast

I drove it around a bit and noticed some wind drag with the TREDs mounted that way. I started looking for a different option. Thought of mounting it horizontally, but was concerned that the TREDs wouldn't be stable off road and move around on the spare time. I then thought of using the HitchGate's Hi-Lift Jack mount (2 holes).

Drilled 2 additional holes in the ROTOPAX gas mount and bolted the plywood mount to the back of the HitchGate.

Now it's very stable and there is no movement at all. No wind drag either.
(Of course I'll move my license plate when I actually drive it.)

Really like that setup. Did you fabricate it? If not, what's the brand/where to purchase? Looks like a low weight option rather than springing for a whole bumper setup.

WILCO Offroad makes the HitchGate tire carrier. I modified it by adding the RotoPax Can mount (Retangular 2" addition).

I like it because I can remove it when I'm not out camping. Downside is that departure angle suffers.

Trimmed the back of the dash speaker grills because I believe they were hitting the cones or surrounds of the Infinitys at higher volumes. Now, much better bass and no weird popping noises. Still can't believe how much better the stock stereo sounds with the dash speaker upgrade and the party mode mod.:rockon:

Went exploring and hiking with the wife and dog, then had a tailgate picnic with a killer view until the sideways rain and hail blew in. Probably going to order the Cooper ST Maxx pizza cutters tomorrow and the Toytec lift to help fit them. Next on the list will be a rear bumper.

Finally got to use my Gobi Rack and my Raingler nets. Man!!! I was kinda having buyers remorse on doing the removable cross bars. Because people was saying it was less rigid. But after mounting my 1750 pelican rifle case. I was soo glad I did... got to fit everything under the nets and removed the cross bars...

Hiked up an old access road to see if the Pro would make it. I think it will. Will return with my copilot to spot me over some tricky boulders.

Looks good, better than my clamp on mount. How did you fasten it to the inside of the rail?

Very cool...is this a public access area or private property? I'd love to take the family exploring in the ADK, but have never been off road up there.

Some of the land is county or local municipality, some preserve land is owned by the state. It's hard to find open access trails most are private or state and off limits. The Adirondacks are beautiful with hundreds of miles of hiking trails and camping sites. Definitely a good vacation option.

Yesterday I swapped out my Camburg ball-joint UCAs for the new Rokmen UCA. I got it aligned this AM and the specs are below.

The Rokmen UCA has a set of spacers that allow some tuning of the caster. The three different configs are basically +1, 0, or -1 degree of caster in relation to the caster already built into the arm itself. I installed in the +1 configuration (which slides the UCA towards the rear of the vehicle; longer spacer to the front for those wondering). The "Before" numbers below are in that config but with the same alignment as the Camburgs. I can't seem to find an alignment sheet from the old setup, but caster was typically maxed around 2.9 - 3.0 on the Camburgs.

An added bonus is that it was *much* easier to align. The guy at NTB was the same guy that did it last time. He mentioned that the new config was a total breeze compared to the old. Totally time was about 30 mins compared to over an hour previously.

EDIT: Yeah it says 2012 w/ KDSS. It's not
