What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Minor Suspension Upgrade

Dropped the runner off at the race shop to have the guys install a few bits. I was lacking confidence in the installers I interviewed then remembered some old racing buddies that ran Baja back in the day...they now run rally cars. They should be able to figure this stuff out.

Rig was feeling a little mushy with all the gear I load into in. Hopefully this will solve the problem. We shall see...



This photo below is from yesterday when I came upon an Xterra well and truly stuck up to it's elbows. Seems he thought driving over this piece of wood would be cool. The wood took offense and firmly grabbed his front skid plate. By the time he quit spinning the wheels the rear bumper was laying on the sand. I calmly directed his efforts using my TREDs and shovel and had him on his way before the tide got him. I felt that he had suffered enough embarrassment and post here just a photo of the aftermath. When his son tells mom the story I'm sure he will never hear the end of it. I was going to pull the TREDs off the roof for summer, but think I'll leave them. I've used them twice to rescue others.

A little bit of river crossing after the rear breather mod was done.

Something I've been curious about but can't find info on is how deep of water can a Pro go through without any mods? I've been through 13" of water and probably could go through 18" without issue. Any idea?

I was wondering?! lol Yes I am planning on getting a set of RCI's in a couple of weeks. Those and some thicker skids and a winch are a must. However on a limited budget my build will be painfully slow. I'll just have to exercise some restraint in the meantime.

Discovered this cool hidden compartment right behind the rear seat. Because of the Weathertech cargo mat, I never noticed the small pull tabs before. Looks like previous owner didn't either.

Not sure myself as well. Just don't past the top of the front bumper & intake box would be my guess. It's good to know that with the rear breather relocated up higher it'll lessen the chance of the rear axle taking in water thru the seals with the sudden temperature change going thru a river.

Roof cross bars

I want to add crossbars to the roof rack.
Looking at the universal ones that can be removed lots easier than the factory ones when I don't need them on (or stolen from my work parking lot).
Anybody have recommendations?

Yes that is the male Ridgeback he is almost 10 months old (100 lbs already). We have his sister who is 2 yrs old. Great dogs and they will love the back window of my 4runner...if it ever gets here.
