What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

I just recently replaced my AOB compressor switch. The first one I got was really not exactly the best feeling. It felt essentially spongey on being pressed/depressed. I finally just ordered a new one, replaced it, problem solved. Still not as nice as OEM switches.

Finally installed my AOB switch after frying the one I waited 2 months for from mic tuning trying to figure out what wire was what. Since they don't give you a wiring diagram.

The AOB was straight forward with the provided wiring diagram and fast shipping had it within two days. Mic tuning was half the price but took 2 months to show up sent multiple emails with no reply etc classic get what you pay for dealio.

Still need to hook up the ignition source wire with a fuse tap. But it works as of now and lights up when you press the button.
Love the location to the right hand side of the steering column. Easy to see and get to, my last two trucks the switch panels had to go on the left side and it always felt like I was fumbling around trying to find the switch on the go.

Looks great!! Mine is coming tomorrow! Can't you tap into the switch for the wiper warmers which illuminates when the lights are on?? That's what I plan on doing.

True that but it fits good and works so I can't complain.

Looks great!! Mine is coming tomorrow! Can't you tap into the switch for the wiper warmers which illuminates when the lights are on?? That's what I plan on doing.

That's what alot of people do, I personally won't tap into wires I've seen way to much wacky stuff happen fixing peoples air ride setup's when they use a wire tap. Fuse taps are reversible and don't cut up your factory harness less risk etc. I always jump off the fuel pump fuse so it will only turn on when your car is in the on position.

Only down fall to my way is the bottom half of the switch will stay lighted when the car is on, no biggy to me. Alot less distracting then the stupid eco light lol

Leather steering wheel mod

Back in the day (2013), the Trail Edition came with a plastic steering wheel (shocking, I know). This time last year I spent several hours sewing a leather wrap on my stock wheel which turned out good, however, my fingers always seemed to find the one or two imperfections. Today, I installed a "new" wheel bought off eBay ($225 shipped.) it came off of a 2016 Trail, wrecked at 9000 miles. Install was pretty easy: disconnect battery, remove air bag (2 Torq screws), disconnect 2 electrical connectors, pull the wheel; assemble in reverse order. I used my original control panels since they were a color match. Happy with the outcome or the new owner will be... if I pull the trigger on that 2017 Pro in cement:lalala:

Hit And Run

What did I do in my T4R today? I went to the post office. And when I came out, my front drivers side bumper cover was side swiped. My T4R Trail is 6 months old with 8k miles on it. Obviously as I was parked along the curb, someone pulled in front of my parked 4R and while going to park along the curb in front of me, they swiped my bumper cover while turning in.

How this person was able to swipe the cover from the quarter panel to the fog light housing and not damage either the panel or the light housing is a mystery.

So I went home, wiped down the damaged are from what appeared to be road salt, pulled out the buffer and cleaned the are. Well as it turns out I do have paint damage.

Went straight to my body shop. This guy who runs this place is skilled. He is a god of body work. He looked at it and is going to give me an estimate tomorrow to get it repaired.

His partner says I should leave it and not touch it since the plastic is not damaged. It just has paint damage in parts that are not too noticeable since I have a Magnetic Grey paint and the primer that is showing is grey/black. But theres enough to make it noticeable. But to me, it is a lot of damage to the paint, taking into consideration the young age of the 4R as well.

They both said to me to wait until springtime and ride out the winter weather (which I already planned on doing) and I may not want to have the nose ripped off the car and basically refinished. And to refinish it, the nose must be removed from the vehicle.

I usually do a military style splice. I don't trust T-Taps. Or, I'll try and pull the lead out of the plug and solder to it.

Also, the Eco light can be turned off in the settings. I don't even know why they put it on the truck. That's a Prius thing.

G-52, are you sure that the new wheel you bought is leather wrapped? I have a 2016 Trail and it sure feels "plasticy" to me. More like pleather or something. It kinda slippery.
I bought a Wheels Skins leather wrap for it and I am about to install it because that is actual leather. I am looking for a better grip.

Just curious if you knew if the 2016 wheel is actual leather or not. I read somewhere on this forum that people were driving the Limited because that was an actual leather wheel and they said it wasnt much better. That is what made me decide on getting a Wheelskins leather wrap.

Also, do you have a link to the wrecked 4Runner? Would love to peek around and see whats left of it to get. Thanks!

Dude, I sooooooooooo agree with you. But I kept my cool cause I realized there is NOTHING I can do about it. If I had seen it happen, I would have asked for Insurance info and if I got sh!t about it, then all bets are off and I would loose my cool to the fullest. But at least its only the paint thats damaged. It was 24 degrees here today. The plastic could have easily been pushed in (and stayed in) or broken, but it wasnt.

New owner 2016 White SR5 I'm looking for a 2" lift and found a 2015 Tundra TRD PRO set up for $25. I know they fit older 4runners but can't find a answer on 5th gens . I'm looking for a 2" lift the price is right $250. Anybody tried this before?
