Installed a dash-cam, installed my T4R.ORG sticker [MENTION=165]momo.75[/MENTION], and oh yeah... started my Toyota Teardrop Runner this weekend.

We'll see... at minimum I'll throw an album of pics up on my profile when it's complete. So far the tire clearance has been the biggest pain in the ass. We had to scrap the old axle, then cut and re-welded a heavy duty axle to fit the right size. Currently using adapters to account for the different bolt pattern. I'll have to see how it tows, and maybe down the road I'll switch out the trailer hubs to match the bolt pattern.

It was an easy class 2 single track on a 50-mile loop starting in De Beque, CO which is 25 miles east of Grand Junction. I was traveling solo, so I did not want to get too technical - I choose the route as I wanted to see the wild mustangs (known to roam the canyons in the area), but all I saw were wild "cows" grazing on public lands. The scenery and the topography/geology of the region though made well worth the 4-hour drive from Denver.

Attached is a pdf from Google to the side road which leads to my campsite.

Great area with numerous backcountry camping sites and hiking trails and not many other vehicles. I only saw 5 trucks (3 of them T4R's!) in over 3 days. :loco:

Dilemma: How to safely transport a 9' fully rigged fly rod in the T4R.

Explanation: Yes, I know that breaking it down is the safest option but it takes time. When you are driving from one part of a river to the next, or are fishing where it may be crowded, the ability to park and GO, can be essential.

Options: Internally mounted overhead rod rack-T4R is too short and the angles on the ceiling don't work. External rod box like a Rod Vault or Big Sky Rod Box-expensive and don't have one yet (that will be my ultimate solution after my Gobi Stealth arrives; if it ever arrives.

Solution: Drop the pass through on the back seat. Place reel on rear edge of cargo liner. Cut a couple of knotches in a piece of foam pipe insulation (a DIY secret weapon BTW), velcro to carpet on back of pass through seat, and Bob's your uncle!

It works in the driveway; I'll see how it works on the road.

For my spinning rods (initially on my Xterra) I made a rack with quick fists. Worked awesome. Im sure it would be fine with a fly rod. I would probably just buy a reel cover.

That actually looks fantastic!!! You may want to start up another thread to help get these guys some support. I know I would love to have one of these.

They drive Taco's so I'm sure they are over on the Tacoma World site, but yeah I agree. A group buy maybe :bounce: I already pledged for the anchor because I have friends whome could use this more than me. Lol It ships out August. Might have to do a video on it once I get it :usa2:

Great Views, I will say Charles Wells guidebook from 2008 is out of date and the trail has gotten much harder then it makes it out to be. Something like a stock Grand Cherokee is going to take some serious hits or major rock stacking to make it across some of the ledges.

Finally took delivery of my Southern Style Offroad Sliders! Schedule's crazy for the foreseeable future and they're sitting patiently in my garage, but I'm really hoping to get them painted and installed before a Memorial Day ride. I probably won't have my early SR5 rocker panel trim cut down by them, but the sliders should be in place.

Having a 5 year old that eats a ton of food and a wife that has medical garbage (pill packs, vials of solution, etc...) I have been looking for a good way to collect the in-cabin garbage easily (well, I guess that is another feature I miss about my 4th Gen). Thank you for this!

Here's a good tip. If you can get your hands on some trail rocker trim, it's a good replacement for the SR5 trim. That's what I did in my 2013. The later (2014+) front end caps will fit perfect as well, just make sure to screw them in or you'll lose them on the trail.

Which version of the book do you have? The most recent states exactly what you said! I camped up near there last weds, one of the most gorgeous nights I've had camping.

Sunday Gunday with the girlfriend
Forgot my bipod for my ar10, 35 mph crosswinds, shooting a 10" plate at about 500 meters.
10 rounds of .308 before knocking the stand over. Then stepped on a nail when I was retrieving my target..... Sunday sucked probably only shot 30 rounds total before calling it quits.

It was Monday, and it was a LONG day. Woke up early and decided to hit a trail while in Sedona for the Overland Expo West. Was at the trail head for Broken Arrow before the sun came up. Made it through the trail and back to the hotel just after 8 am to clean-up and make the ~800 mile drive home. Back at home just after 9 pm.
