What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

It was my fault. I was going about 35 mph and misjudged how fast the car in front of me was breaking. I drive this road every day and theres never traffic so I thought he was just slowing but by the time I realized he had slammed on his break, it was too late. I could of swerved to the left and avoided all of this but because I was in the right lane, my instinct took over and I swerved right because i knew there wasn't any cars to my right. I don't think there was a car in the left lane at the time but I could be wrong and didn't want to risk it and the fact that I failed to realize how fast the car slowed down, there was no way I would of thought to look to my left to see if a car was coming or not. Shitty way to start off the day but shit happens. It is what it is. Its still drivable and I pretty sure theres no damage to the frame or drivetrain so all is good. I walked away from it and thats all that matters.

Aw crap man. I'm sorry to hear that. Like you said though, you're ok and that's most important.

Are you going to go through insurance to fix the two cars or are you going to try to cover everything out of pocket?

Depends on who's fault it is but either way now's the time to take the insurance settlement and get some front armor. Same thing happened to me in my 06' Tacoma and I ended up with $4000 in insurance money which bought me an ARB Bull Bar and better suspension

Only after 3month in, driver side SPC uca balljoint started popping. First noticed in the steering wheel a low speed...
Greased it up again, noise came back a few km later. I think the damage is done.

New one are on their way

I'm getting an estimate tomorrow on the damages so we'll see how much they quote. Whatever they quote, they will cut me a check for that amount minus the deductible. If the price is right, I am going to take the check and cash it and and looks for the parts I need and have my friend do the repairs at his shop and hopefully leaves me with some cash in my pocket to get a full replacement bumper out of it but we'll see what the numbers look like tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that. A guy just put lights up for pretty dang cheap on the 5th gen for sale/wanted thread. Snag them before someone else does!

Took it into the dealership for the 10,000 maintenance.

Came home and did the LED puddle lights and love them. The difference is night and day.

The old puddle lights barely even did anything and these really help light up the area

Install was super easy and quick

Yep, lots of people have issues with SPC and they will not stand behind their product. I'm surprised people even buy from them anymore.

I'm kind of piss. I went with them because fellow Canadian with icon and other uniball non-greasable UCA told me they are pita with salty road.

I have to replace them and the suspension never seen the winter yet.


Correct me if im wrong but I think part of the problem is in the design of the boot. It doesn't allow you to "push the old with the new" when you grease them.

Uniballs are strong as hell but are a pain in the ass to keep quiet. I plan to swap out to JBA arms at come point. After a bunch of homework they seem to be the best ball joint arm on the market. Dirt King seems to make a nice ball joint arm also as well as a company in maybe NC which is really cheap on ebay but that scares me lol.

I bought my SPC's from Toytec. Came with non-greasable ball joints that lasted 40,000 hard miles. Started to squeak a little so $90 later new balljoints. I would definitely recommend and buy them again!

Nope, airbags did not go off. Speed at time of impact was about 20mph. The driver side took most of the damage. The other car had minimal damage.
