What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

So I was seeing a bunch of people post stuff about a restrictor in the stock air box which was noticed when replacing with an aftermarket intake. I figured there had to be a way to remove it so I messed around with it tonight after work. Removed the lower air box, removed the water shield from the intake box, tapped the restrictor from the inside once with a hammer, fell right out. May have improved midrange power and it has a subtle throaty sound to it now. Not the sound of an aftermarket intake by any means but I do hear a difference. Only other mod is an AFE Pro Dry drop in filter. 10 minutes and free, works for me!

Now look what you’ve done..restrictor delete.
But what is this in pic 2? A pre filter I’ve never noticed?

lol that's what this group is all about! It's a carbon filter, I removed that a long time ago.

Let me know what your impression of the restrictor delete is!

Well the carbon filter went away and I cleaned the throttle body while I was in there. When I started the truck this morning it was definitely breathing easier as the RPM's shot up to 2000 rather than the usual 1200. That is proof enough for me that the restrictor had to go. The restrictor delete mod is butt dyno approved, as I noticed faster acceleration merging onto the highway this morning.

wow! just did mine in less than 20 minutes. Takes longer for me to fill up a tank of gas. Everyone should try this the next time you change your air filter. I kept my carbon filter intact but the restrictor pipe is worth a try. You can always add it back.

Curious what you removed for the "restrictor" ? Any more info? The Carbon Filter definitely restricts and needs to go

the same reason why everyone buys a 300 dollar TRD CAI kit, NOISE! I kept my carbon filter. I removed it in other vehicles and did not appreciate the smell of unburnt fuel

Last Tuesday.

Ice Ice Baby ! Going from +30 Celcius to - 30 Celcius to rain to snow to ice to freezing cold again.

I can finally say I have joined the 33s club haha. I might be the first to run the 285/75/17 KO2s on a Pro. Upgraded tire size again in less than a month. I went from 285/70/17 to 285/75/17 BFG KO2s. The fronts barely clear the body mount, but minor rubbing on the fender liner when turning fast and in reverse at full lock. No BMC and easy fix! These K02s run smaller than other brand name tires (34s and up) in the same size. BFG says they are 33.9 inch in diameter and only weights 61 lbs each which is almost the same weight as other 285/70/17 tires. In my opinion, the 285/75/17 KO2s are perfect for my rig! Now, let the pictures do the talking!

So they are actually a 32.9 inch tire when installed? I measured my 275/70R17 and they measured 30.5 they are advertised at 32.2

I was gonna get 34x10.5R17 KO2s but now that I see yours I’m definitely going with the 285/75R17 :thumb:

Yah they are little under 33 when installed. I will measure it again. On 34.10.5r17, depending on your lift height, you might be able to get away from doing a BMC. You are only getting a 10.5 inch wide tire vs 11.3 on the 285s. 285/75/17 is better in my opinion.

Finally leveled it out and got my control arms on the other day. Next it goes to the body for mild repair and body chop mod.
