Ya, i thought about that. I didn’t want to have that up there, but I had to have something for a trip I’m taking. I borrowed it from a buddy, who actually has one of “their” racks and he wouldn’t appreciate me removing his sticker.

Black out emblems

Decided it was time to throw on the black out emblems to help compliment the wheels, couple before and afters. Front before

Really like the satin black look of these emblems, I'm not a big chrome fan. I also did the side emblems but didn't snap a pic.

I blacked out the rear emblem and lettering with Plasti Dip. 1st time using it. Of course there’s a spot I have to go over again. It was actually easier than I thought. I put 5 coats on. I guess I should have done 8. hwell:

The trail looked a lot wider from the drivers seat .....

I did not buy this rig to keep it on pavement and so today we added to my "long scratch down the side" collection that was already there from previous trips.

My wife had heard the sound before, but my friend in the back was new to narrow trails and the sounds of large manzanita down the side of the rig is like finger nails on a chalk board and he was horrified. Meanwhile my wife and I in the front just start laughing and I punch the gas.

So much fun today.

Got new tires installed today, went up in size from the Toyota at2’s that were on it when we bought it 60k miles ago (275/55r20), this time I went with a cheaper tire (westlake sl369, only 126ea after promo code aw10 on www.simpletire.com) that I have tried on my 2nd gen year round and liked a lot. So I can also confirm that a 33x10.8 can fit stock without rubbing, to be exact the tire size is 275/60r20 on stock le wheels including a new spare which without trouble went right back up in place. I’ll also be installing the cornfed 1” front spacer to level it along with new rear brake lines and sway bar bushings. Basically a busy maintenance weekend!

Took my 2011 SR5 4Runner for the passenger side air bag recall and the dealer came back and said I have a timing cover leak which they quoted for 4K. They said when they checked the oil level it was low even though I changed the oil a week ago. Checked it myself and I saw it was full. Inspected the area briefly but didn’t see anything suspicious or leak.

First time on this thread and looking for some insight on this if anyone has had this same issue. Service department seemed shady or maybe because I’m not too familiar with this issue. Any info would help!

How's night driving with the 70% windshield? Considering the same but concerned about driving on unlit backroads that are pitch black at night.

Just drove from Dallas to Austin. Left at 930pm. No issues at all with the darkness of the tint. The windshield really doesn't look tinted. I have driven a car with pretty dark windshield tint, like 35, and that was too dark but still doable. But the 70 will not pose an issue to someone who wants the heat rejection but still wants a normal driving experience. There was no glare from other headlights either. Super great clarity.

The cr40 on all the other windows was just fine. I am much more used to driving with tint. Usually 20-35%. But this isn't a pretty mild tint.

I will also say that my dad would probably not like any of it but he won't even drive at night lol. I am also not 21 anymore and thus don't like dark tint anymore. So to sum it up it's just fine unless your old, love you dad ��

From my past experience be careful doing this. The plastic Toyota uses on the instrument cluster scratches very easily. Years ago, I used a basic store microfiber cloth and wiped it. It had all kinds of micro scratches on it afterwards. Since then, on my last 3 Toyotas, I’ve only used the softest microfiber I could find. I usually use the Swifter duster weekly an this keeps the dust off and keeps from getting any build up. Doing this I don’t usually need to wipe with a rag. On the screen, a good electronic or glass microfiber cloth will work fine. This doesn’t seem to scratch as easily. I get my quality microfiber cloths from Adam’s Polishes.

Noticed a squeak coming from the front left of the vehicle yesterday. With a 5min SEARCH (this is why I love this forum) I found this thread and the fix from [MENTION=53327]1000MPH[/MENTION] and pic tutorial from [MENTION=108399]eHaze[/MENTION]. It was the driver side splash guard coming loose.

It's a issue w the mating surfaces, I guess a lot of the 4.0l have this issue. On the passenger side timing cover? Just clean it up and keep an eye on how quickly it gets dusty or oily again. If it's not dripping out, don't worry about it.
Every six months or so I clean mine up and make sure oil is full, it's never noticably low

Daystar 2.5"/1.5" installed! I figured out that you can install the rear stoppers really quickly if you use a bottle jack on the rear axle after removing the sway bar and shocks. Decided to trim the LE rocker panels instead of just completely removing them. Up next, TRD Pro wheels with 285/70/17 ko2's
