Got new tires today! Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S.

I was running the stock Dunlops since I bought it last fall, and was figuring if I could get through a year with them, I'd feel like I got enough out of them that I wouldn't feel bad replacing them. Took the 4runner on a camping trip at a buddy's property last weekend, and they suuuck in snow. They do okay on snowy paved roads but deeper snow on dirt trails they're useless. I think the Coopers will do loads better, and hopefully I can get a few bucks for the old AT20s.

I was stock, with Revtec 432 lift. The mechanic called these "heavy load" springs. I have a lot of weight in the back. So far I didn't notice any difference on pavement, except for sitting higher when I first got in. Haven't been in any significant amount of dirt, yet.

Thanks. Its the standard front with the TOYOTA emblem in the center of the Pro. Everything is black aside from the logo. I just upped the contrast so you can see the color of the lights better.

The mods continue.

Today I added a Pedal Commander and WOW what a difference. Everyone raves about off the line change but where I have really noticed it is when climbing grades. No longer have to push the pedal down as far to keep speed even going uphill.

I also added the Canvasback Liners. I am cleaning out a house and already in just one day the back end of my 4R is dirty from boxes and bins. The liners are already doing their job.

On Friday I had Megaweapon in the shop for the 35k maintenance and new brakes. Turned out it had also come up for the air bag recall, so they did that too. Nice to have that out of the way and no longer need to worry about possible shrapnel if I ever had an accident.

Other than that, I haven't had time to do anything fun with it in months. I'm really jonesing for some off-road adventure time!

I spent most of the day templating my new tie down plate for the cargo area that is replacing my drawer system. Hoping to have that knocked out next week. I had been looking for a heavy duty storage solution that I could remove pretty easily. Heavy duty enough that I can keep all my heavy recovery gear in it, throw it around, and be able to use it as a bench while camping if I felt like it. I almost went with a rolling toolbox, but ended up finding out about Hardigg cases. It seems Hardigg is a Pelican brand (or they were bought by Pelican) that makes military transport cases. I'm no doomsday survivalist special forces wanna be, but these things are pretty rad. I'd have no concerns throwing them down a hill for sure. They make a massive variety of sizes and can be had from surplus dealers on eBay. Some are more reasonably priced than others. I made an offer and got two big heavy duty wheeled cases delivered across the country for $200. They certainly aren't new and shiny, but they are strong. Just wanted to pass it along if anyone is looking for a storage solution and doesn't want to drop $500 on a fancy new box.

How did the "install" go for ya? Any disassembly, or just clean and squeegee them on? Asking has I have mine, just been too lazy to look into how to put them on.

I had square sheets of yellow tint designed for this. Cleaned, squeegeed it on, cut the excess off and boom yellow fogs!

Poking around behind the front grill today thinking of light bar/pod options, maybe customizing a bracket. Came across this writing on a bracket on the drivers side in front of the radiator. Anyone translate or have seen this? 7 years working on my 11 FJ never saw any writing, just think its a cool little find. Maybe line worker signing off a part installation?

I’m not Japanese, but I have worked in a manufacturing industry. Based on my experience, people tend to sign parts like this to make a mark, especially on a Friday or their last day on the job. Based on this, I believe that will roughly translate to, “eat a di@k”. But, I could be totally wrong...
