Did you get everything to keep the steering wheel controls and back up camera? I just ordered the harnesses for my Kenwood from Crutchfield. They say plug and play... But you know how that is some times. Just want to know if it is easy or what route you went?

Well, it's taken me a LOT longer than usual to get this posted, but it's finally done. Here is my report on my 2018 Nevada & Mojave trip, exploring ghost towns, mining camps, and mines:

disconnect them and take it for a drive. easy troubleshoot :girl:

lolol "easy" and Kdss.....

alright i went and ordered all the front end bushings for kdss. My thump is over speed bumps and big dips, and its so loud that pedestrians can hear it and get startled.

I'm crossing my fingers that its the sway bars....

I'm not sure I agree with removing the sway bar with a KDSS system. If you remove it, the KDSS cylinder will fully extend and just hang there. Not sure this would be good for the cylinder, and I would not reccomend messing around with the valves.

Place a bottle jack or floor jack under the bar next to the cylinder and lift slightly, undo the end link brackets from the LCA, lower the jack to extend the cylinder so you can get the end link brackets to roll away from the LCA ( they will roll outward and drop), remove and inspect those bushings. Undo the brackets for the sway bar link in the middle and the cylinder and inspect them. Put it back together in same order. When you are ready to reconnect the end brackets back to the LCA, start on the driver side and raise/lower the cylinder via the jack to get the bracket lined up. there is a drift pin hole in the top of each.
Make sure your holes are dead on, the top bolt from end bracket to LCA will try to cross thread every time, pay special attention to that. Once you get the driver side snugged up, manipulate jack same way to get pass side lined up. Remove jack from cylinder area, rock vehicle back and forth aggressively, let settle, and torque the bracket bolts to spec.

My clunk was more of a deep knock or deep rattle over bumps that affected one or the other front tire. When going over speed bumps or even bumps, I just got squeaks and creeks. Good luck, hope this helps.

doubt anything would go wrong, but couple guys run theirs disconnected but clamped in the up position constantly.

Clamping it up for a test drive might work, but it seems like it will continue to "want to work" when you go over bumps, which would also affect the rear stabilizer as the hydraulics are connected and balanced. Maybe removing front and rear for the test drive and securing both cylinders might be the answer. Seems like a lot of work though, when you can just remove the bushings and inpect for cracks, splits and wear.
If I was going to run without stabilizer bars, I'd just remove the KDSS completely so the cylinders wouldnt just be hanging there.

Rear camera install

Decided to cut me small piece of abs and mount the rear camera. Will eventually have to run a hot wire to the rear for constant on, just plugged into the the rear cig lighter for now.

I used the Maestro ADS RR box and T02 connectors

Installed some BD Squadron Sports (WC), along with a hidden winch mount from SDHQ, to nicely conceal a Smittybilt X2O. Pretty happy with it all. Lost a quarter inch with the added weight. Took someone's idea to put some door trim around the cut in the lower valance. I also decided to paint it black with some plastidip. Not sure if I like that look yet. I'll give it some time.

Not too complicated at all. I've found that reading through these forums and searching though youtube is just about all anyone every needs to complete any mod, the common ones at least.

Uploaded some pics of the work done, and below is a link of a somewhat short time-lapse of the whole thing. Was just kind of messing around with new GoPro and figured I'd try time-lapse out. Enjoy, and for your extra enjoyment, I whacked my ankle on my snowplow when the bumper let loose at about the :55 second mark..... it still hurts.

I bought my 4Runner over the weekend. On Saturday I bought a 2017 4Runner SR5 Premium. It has 28K miles and is a Certified Pre-Owned. I have had 46 cars and this is my first Toyota (unless you count a Lexus I had for about 6 months). I have been driving 20 year old BMWs for the last 10-12 years. I have never bought a car that was this new and the last time I had a vehicle under factory warranty was a car I bought for my wife in 2001.

First, I have to say: Now I get it. I understand why Toyotas sell so well. I understand why people who buy Toyotas KEEP buying Toyotas.

It took all day to buy the car on Saturday (dealing with Dealership BS), but I am thrilled to have it. Yesterday, I spent a few hours cleaning it even more than the alleged detail by the dealership. I clayed the entire car and the paint is so smooth now. Didn't have time to wax it. But, that will be done this weekend.

This weekend I replaced all the factory speakers... Kicker tweeters, Rockford Fosgate in the doors and hatch.

Easiest part of the installation were the dash tweeters. The kicker tweeters are a Subaru factory upgrade and use the same wiring harness as our 4Runners. Complete plug and play installation... :biggrin2:

The doors and hatch weren't hard except for reinstalling the door panels. Getting them to line up perfectly at the top of the door takes patience.

Overall, the sound clarity and quality is much improved. I'd give it an 8/10 score...

I did the Kicker tweeter upgrades too! Much improved sound. Now, I'm thinking about doing the door upgrades. What size did you put in your doors? I know a couple different sizes can fit. Impressions on vocal clarity and bass response?
