Ordered a GOBI rack... worth the wait for me since they are Colorado company. Not sure if will use the ladder or not, but will take advantage of the free install they offer since they are local.

i can't believe a 9 yr old SR5 cost 18k! these vehicles don't often require much in the way of repair. what you described is just high-mileage maintenance.

edit: post immediately after mine is someone describing what i infer to have been a costly repair lol

Hello All, new to this forum. Was a member on the FJ Forum, but sold my FJ awhile back. Anyway, just got my 11' SR5 back from the shop. They did the "DREADED" timing chain cover gasket...! Ouch...! :jaw:

I just got mine back spending $2300 + $200 on the timing chain cover gasket and the driver side cv...! Only has 89k on it..! After talking with the shop, they have seen some pretty questionable QC stuff from Toyota that they haven't seen in the past. The Timing Cover on the 4.0L :gun5: and the Cam Tower issue on the 5.7L V8 :sniper: Hope you get yours smoothed out..!

Dealer work I assume? May want to look for another dealer or shop. 9 years in VA with snow and salt is a long time plus you do have higher mileage so some issues are to be expected. A lot of shops to however like to just replace everything and if you don't know any better they will take advantage of you.

I cut mine up last week for the same reason. I am scheduled for a body mount chop at SSO next week.

Got the overhead and liftgate ArcLight Premium Icarus lights today, and got them installed. Did the Map Lights last month. The install of the lights is not difficult, and the instructions that are provided are pretty dang thorough.
Also ordered the TRD CAI today during the 40% off TRD sale. Just over $300 shipped. Beats the heck out of $400+, and a heck of a lot easier to justify to myself.

Got the 4R aligned today after I got the Eibach lift installed.
Numbers look good, but the steering wheel is a bit crocked. grrrrr
Probably taking it in tomorrow to see if they can fix it quickly. Hate when sh!ts not done right.
Is "Steering Ahead" the steering wheel? Looks good on paper at 0, but its not.
