Made a DIY trekpak to organize my fake Alu-box. This will definitely help in organization and the frustration of digging through my camp kitchen chuck box. The trekpak stuff is nice but it is also $$$. Used corrugated plastic board, foam roll, and spray adhesive which can all be purchased from Michaels or your local arts/crafts store.

That's a nice Idea. We are starting with our preparations for traveling with the T4R and a box like yours is something to think about. Last week the fridge arrived, next big project will be a kitchen-box like this, but DIY and customised for the space we have.

Breaking in a friends new '19 TRDOR at Cold Water Canyon 3N06A.
Last week we bought our recovery tracks and I am still figuring out where to mount them. That's a nice solution, would leave the cross bars free for other stuff. Next question is if it's allowed by the german law.

I'd like to know more info on the fake alubox. The corrugated stuff is a great idea for my ammo boxes I use.

Thanks for posting this travel report! We have a similarly spec’d trailer (2018 flagstaff e-pro) that we recently purchased and I’ve been curious what others have been experiencing in terms of towing with their 4runners. Sounds like your experience is similar to mine.....keep it in s4 and 11-12mpg. Our trailer is a bit over 3000# dry and about 400# at the tongue.
We do tow with a weight distributing hitch and also firestone bags pumped to about 20#. That seems to be a good combination for us. I agree that the WDH is probably not absolutely necessary, but I’ve towed short distances without it and it does make a substantial improvement in terms of stability and handling (makes the front feel more planted).....so I feel it was a worthwhile investment.
I traded in a 17 Tacoma for this 4runner last fall because of the ridiculous transmission/engine programming in that truck (I even bought a tune for it and it still was not satisfactory IMO). It struggled to tow our old popup camper without struggling and hunting gears constantly. I was nervous how the 4runner would do with this bigger camper and have been pleasantly surprised.

Nice rig! Yeah, I wasn't able to find much info on the 4Runner pulling modern "ultra-lite" campers so it was a bit of a gamble that I'm glad paid off.
I love seeing other 4Runners pulling, I've only seen 3 in person and they all had R-Pods hooked up (smaller & lighter). Maybe others will find our posts & feel more comfortable! :clap2:

Simple but satisfying morning rotating the tires and replacing the front brake pads on my 2014 Limited today. My OEM pads lasted 63,125 miles. There was very little friction material left and the wear was extremely even. I replaced the fronts with Akebonos and promptly ordered the Akebono ACT6506’s for the rears. They are as due as the fronts and I’ll be parking her until I get them swapped on Saturday.
The front pad change took me less time than my last oil change and the Cooper Discoverer 275/55 ATPs on the stock 20” wheels are heavy. This is my second set of these tires as I swapped out the Toyota sedan specials at 1,500 miles. The first set of Coopers were getting loud at 53k.

For anyone that Tows. Highly recommend the firestone bags. You can install it without removing the rear springs. A bit of a pain but its doable. Also when you air up you look like you have a 6 inch lift in the rear lol

They're aluminum boxes from Swiss-Link. They're chinese made and definitely a step down from Zarges Or Alu-Box. I got them for $140 shipped/ea. I think at some point a while ago they used to be on sale for $80-90. Unfortunately I don't think they sell them anymore and are really hard to find.
