The 10-series are definitely more bare bones and smaller but there's no seating space inside of them unless you're cool with just sitting on a mattress.
If it was just me (and not me +wife), I would have just dropped the $20k on a custom-built teardrop from High Camp Trailers (built in Portland, OR) and put an ARB awning with attachable walls to act as my "living room". That thing you could literally take anywhere and the craftsmanship is amazingly top-notch so you would probably not need to worry about anything going awry. Plus, it's absolutely beautiful looking.
But alas, gotta get the wife on board, and she wasn't down for that idea. It's fine though, this thing at least looks cool and has plenty of chill space and can be easily towed by the 4Runner. Biggest issue is since we're apartment dwellers, I've got to store it at a storage facility which is expensive as **** in the Puget Sound region.
And unfortunately, these only came out in 2018, so there aren't a whole lot of used ones out there yet. Otherwise, I would have tried to find one.
However, you're a bit closer to Ohio than I am and Jeff Couch's RV in Ohio will ship them to you and they sell the things new for like $16,000 which is totally crazy. If you didn't want to pay for shipping, you could just drive up there and make a camping trip out of it! Unfortunately for me, it was like $4000 to ship to Seattle which doesn't save me any money and it's too far for me to make a road trip out of it with limited vacation days.
