I had Sylvania Silverstar Ultra H11 bulbs in my 2016 which were better than stock but in these projectors they were not impressive. I love these bulbs and have had great results with them in other vehicles but not the 4Runner. I decided to do the H9 headlight bulb swap for my low beams. Driving home from work I can tell a drastic difference. Cleaner more pure white light that lights up the road further and wider but at the same cutoff. So far it appears I am not blinding oncoming traffic which is a good thing. I took the highway home tonight but I will put them to the test on all back roads tomorrow on my way to work. So far, I am very pleased with this 5 minute $14.00 mod. These are the bulbs I used.

So I finally got around to tinting my new CarTrimHome sequential turn signals. I had originally done this on a stock replacement set, but wanted to give the sequentials a try.
First I masked everything off
Then I sprayed them with 5 coats of VHT
Then I wet-sanded the tint to smooth it out
Then applied a few coats of clear
Then I wet-sanded the clear smooth and polished them by hand till they looked like glass
Here's a side by side of my stock tinted set and the new tinted CarTrim set
And here they are all installed, way happier with this tint job than my first try on the stock ones I had previously.
And here's a shot of the sequential, they are WAY brighter than the stock turn signals even tinted dark.
which vht and clear did you use?

This week:
Shampoo'd the carpets after a terrible coffee spill with a Home Depot hand held carpet cleaner, (HIGHLY recommend)! Also, if you ever have a smell that you can't get rid of, use pet cleaner with enzymes; it's the only thing that ever worked for me. Pro tip!

My dog gets car sick and likes to barf in hard to clean corners just before we arrive at our destination. I keep a spray bottle of enzyme cleaner in the 4Runner and it is magic stuff. Works good for all the nastiness that my kids contribute too.

I just had these same bulbs get delivered after reading the lighting threads over at TW. DId you have to trim the metal tab up top or just the plastic bit in the socket?

Need to trim the tab inside the socket as well as the metal on the bulb.

Yeah, I read that thread. From the TW thread it sounded like most people weren't having to trim the metal tab, just the plastic one. Could just be a Taco thing, could just be me confusing things while trying to digest 90 pages of info.

lol yeah anything is possible. I can tell you I test fitted them without trimming and they did not fit. The way Toyota works it could even be a year to year kind of thing. Never hurts to try and install them without trimming. I don't think there is any way around trimming the plastic tab though other than buying the H11-H9 adaptor harness which IMO is pointless.

Most recently did an LED conversion on the interior lighting, reverse lights and added the morimoto XB headlights. Next maybe sell the trd rack and add something else. Not sure what’s after that.

I had already made up my mind to go with these in the near future until I saw the Cooper AT3 XLT but no 265/70/17 available
so I'm back on these when I'm ready to upgrade from the stock Dunlops
Not today, but this week I started my Lexus IS bi-Xenon retrofit project. The permaseal headlight sealant is just as terrible as advertised. I did note that the recommended 250F oven wasn't hot enough to fully soften the permaseal in my situation so I slowly increased with each heating cycle. I found 290-300 for 10 minutes works really well in my oven (gas, non-convection air). Still a long way to go on this project and I really have minimal opportunities to set aside time for it.

I did it last night and had to trim the metal tab too. It was a 5 minute job that, through a comedy of errors, took 3 and a half hours.
