If your not in such a hurry next time, shoot over to I-81 in Pennsylvania take it down to North Carolina and take a detour on the Blue Ridge Mountain Pkwy, beautiful drive, can't wait to get back there myself. Nice ride through the mountains in Virginia also.

great tip----- I will do that on the way back. I did see a show on that road and it looked beautiful! I was in a rush to get down to FLA, but plan to take my time on the way back. We have the dog so I am going to need to plan a bit to find dog friendly places to stay.

Check to see if your garage door opener is missing. An opener and an address off your papers can lead to a bigger theft.

That was my first thought also. Another thing is to never store "home" in your GPS Stolen vehicle with a garage door opened and a home address to make things nice and easy. They know where you are and about how long they have before you get home after the few hours you'll spend waiting for the police and filing your report. This problem was even bigger back in the day of portable GPS systems like Garman, TomTom, stuff like that. All they had to do was take the GPS and garage door open, they didn't even need the vehicle.

I never set up a home address in GPS, so I'm good there. Thanks!

Ill try not to beat a dead horse, but last item is to get to know your neighbors. They will be able to tell if someone is at your house that doesn’t look right. If they have your number, they can call and check in. :deadhorse:

Yup, its a 30" diode dynamics stage series light bar. I'm really happy with the output and IMO its well worth the money. Here is a video showing oem low beams, ss3 fogs, and my light bar output.

Thank you for the picture!!! I was looking for that all over the forum. And LFD's site doesn't have good ones to show whether it fits.

Agree the skid isn't going anywhere and four points is sufficient to hold it in place. I was just thinking the two more in the middle might add to the overall rigidity.

Took the skid off this weekend for some fixes to the suspension and when I put it back on, i made sure to tuck the plastic under the skid and it fits perfectly and it looks sooo much better now! Looks super clean and like it was meant to be there!

Not who you were replying to but I just installed mine a week or so ago. Honestly... it did not go smoothly. There were no official instructions I could find online. There was a video linked by some dude named Chad... don't listen to him. He had me back off my KDSS pump mounting bolt (which is a MAJOR pain in the ass) but it turns out, that's entirely unnecessary.

It would probably be pretty easy if you don't have KDSS, but for me it was a kind of a pain. Took two afternoons to get it to 95% done, but I couldn't get one or two holes on the driver's side lined up and finally decided just to drive down to Cali Raised and have them take a look at it. They helped out for free which was nice, but yeah I can't say the install was fun.

Yea, I spent a month on the road (or off the road) running Moab, Colorado back country, and Idaho back country. I think the constant vibrations just backed them out.

I've had that annoying sound back there for a few years now after an offroad trip and never dove deep into the hatch to figure it out. I added a 15" sub to try to kill the noise, and it worked!!

But now the sub has vibrated loose several other parts of the car...

DIY Rear Cargo

I always carry a lot of gear and tools with me everywhere I go. I attempted a homemade drawer build on my old 3rd Gen that was eventually turned into a $450 campfire.

Ended up going this route in our new 5th Gen. It’s pretty low profile, and by not having drawers I saved a good bit of money. Drawers would have been nicer, admittedly. But I only spent $215 on the project and I’m happy with it. I had a limited budget to work with and I created something useful with what I had. Win, win!

Yea the black mustache part. It was easy, one bolt under the pull strap, then pull on the door panel all the way around until the push pins come out. Remove one of the speakers and fish your hand inside to find the loose nut(s) and tighten them back up.

Installed an Ecotechne roof rack

I am digging this rack from Ecotechne. Low profile and clean look. Very minimal nose on the freeway as well. I was cruising around 90mph for at least 10 miles and the wind noise was very low.

Sooo I know I could just buy a factory subwoofer for my 5th gen but that’s no fun. I decided to build a custom box.
