Deep cleaned Apple [emoji519] today and fixed the rear platform. Over the years it had come loose (somehow) so I got it back in order. Unfortunately my small shelf that I had installed prior to the last trip broke at the pocket holes and I couldn’t reinstall it. Im working on another solution may do aluminum. Head out Sunday for next trip that will last until next February

Man after the years of beating this things taken it makes all sorts of noise!!! I have some foam in rear but it’s honestly not that loud. Ive been riding without carpet now for over a year. (Drenched it in water crossing) the biggest issue really is heat not noise.

Lower Goler Canyon is far better now than in the mid-1990s. Several dry falls. A friend of mine flipped his Wrangler over backwards hotfooting it up one of them. The lower canyon was filled in around 1999.
Barker before it burned was interesting. Before it burned down, Meyers Ranch up past Barker was green and pretty.
Mengel looks worse on the west side than it was back then. The east side looks a bit worse today. I ldrove over it often with a stock, 1996 Chevy S-10 4x4 with no suspension upgrade, no skid plates and stock size tires (BFG All Terrain T/A). Didn’t touch down, but I really learned how to pick my lines in that truck!
Back in those days, it was an all day affair. Used to live in Big Pine, do the Ballarat/Mengel/Butte Valley/Warm Springs/Death Valley run. Dinner and gas at Furnace Creek (sometimes gas at Scotty’s Castle, it was cheaper then), north along the length of Death Valley, then back to Big Pine via Eureka Valley. About a 16-18 hour day.

installed a TRD skid plate - don't know why I didn't do this sooner!
it was easy, the two longest steps were removing the old skid plate and plastic piece, followed by chasing the threads with a tap for the longer bolts. I chased all 4 threaded spots. Then I put anti-seize on all 4 bolts before installing the plate. It was even easy to do by myself, using a milk crate to support the plate enough of me to bolt it in place.

I re-secured the main platform anchored the secondary platform and lined it with bed liner and then repacked for the next adventure that starts Sunday
Sunday I embark on yet another cross country journey where if all goes well I will end up in Baja for the winter and won’t be back to the east coast till February 2023[emoji1696] follow The adventures via YouTube > Sir William Goes and Instagram [MENTION=95539]SirWilliamGoes[/MENTION]

Up here visiting family, took the Natchez Trace Parkway up to Nashville then cut across to the small towns that my family is from. Tomorrow we cut over to the Memphis area, then take Hwy 61 all the way back down to Louisiana.

Bought it a month or two ago, a 2012 SR5.
I changed the oil, transfer case, front and rear diffs, and drained/refilled about 3 quarts of WS from the transmission. Changed the plugs.
Removed the DeeZee running boards and installed OEM mud guards.
Installed a 2" front spacer kit to level it out. It was a bit much, going to put 1" in the rear.
Did the Antman fog light mod.

Today my new to me 2011 Limited 4Runner is going to get looked over to try to diagnose the vibration in front end(I think only Front) once near40mph, and the underneath “clanking” noise when I go over bumps — my first 4 Runner and I bought it cause it’s something we can easily work on.
I’m a chick and my hubs is so dam busy if i can pinpoint the issue, order the parts — he/ I will get it fixed but I gotta do the procuring’ first, get parts and then beg the issue.

Clank is hopefully just a worn out front sway bar bushing, very easy fix. For the vibration try rotating the tires first of all and see what happens.
