What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Installed Apex Overland front recovery points before Moab trip next week. Took them to my local powder coater to get matched as close as I could to the Dobinsons teal springs. Had to use my dremel to knock down the large weld next to the main bolt and paint over it for protection (only had teal on hand) which is the slight overspray on the skid plate.

How was the install? I've been putting off mine for a while because of the install with the sway bars

I've done Imogene (Ouray/Telluride area in Colorado) several times in previous years, and I've always missed/forgotten about the rock outcropping on the Ouray side from the peak....
Finally remembered, and got a great pic there this time.....

Installed Firestone Airbags yesterday. They were a pain in the butt. I had read how hard it was to cut the bump stop inside the coil, so I figured it would be easier to remove the rear shocks and pull the coils out.

It was not easier.

In other news, I am now intimately acquainted with the entire rear suspension.

Well not "today", but more like this month.

Before I had my C4 bumper powder coated I drilled holes for Baja LP4 lights. I have not seen this combo before. Function is pretty awesome!

Second, I was sick of my traction boards being on the roof, even worse when I had to have them on top of my tent. I bought GP mounts with the flat mount kit, some stainless L brackets and hardware (anti theft) from McMaster to come up with this much better solution with my C4 ladder.

The moral of this story is to Install Firestone airbags at the same time you replace the rear coil springs. Right?

lol yeah, if you are going to replace your rear coils, definitely do the airbags at the same time!

Agreed. The airbag install into the coil and running the air lines was a breeze. The cutting of the bump was a royal pain in the a**. I found a crappy knife and a propane torch to heat it up and it got the job done with a lot of cursing. I started with two rungs and that was "ok." The third rung was miserable, but got it. 4th would be impossible without removing the rear coils.

recently hit a freshly yellow paint line, cried a little inside, end result after a steam wash and a little detail.

Westcott Designs sliders installed. Specs on them: DOM steel, MIG welded, 0 degree, black powdercoat, w/ top plates and kick out. They're super solid, fit and finish is spot-on, and made right here in the USA.

Not today, but late on posting

Been crazy hectic with starting a new job and getting a kid into college, but I finally got the OME BP-51, Nitto Ridge Grapplers and the Falcon Off-Road's installed. Not too big, just a more aggressive stance and meaner look.

Installed Dobinson’s 3.5” lift upfront last night. Hit a snag with a rear strut bolt, hardest one to reach, sawzall finally found it. Installing the diff lift and rear 2.5” lift today…I hope.

So how do the bp51s perform? Initial impressions?

So I went on a camping trip up to Flagpole Knob in VA a few weeks after I got them installed, and I have to say I think they performed pretty well. I like how they handle on the day to day driving, it definitely has a smoother ride than the stock Fox I had on there. Now, on the other hand the "adjust on the fly" shocks for compression and rebound is supposed to be really easy, but I've found it is anything but. To make adjustments on the rear, you either have to take the rock guards off or the tire to get the spanner wrench or remove the tire entirely. The front you can kind of get to, but the coil over spring is in the way making it hard to get the spanner wrench on to make the adjustments. I did some research and had the compression and rebound at 1 for the off-roading/ mountain climb and that worked great, almost like the feel of making the ride smoother like airing down the tires. For everyday driving I have them set at compression 5 and rebound 6, which is a pretty smooth ride to me. I've just got to weigh on how the long the next off-roading adventure is going to be to see if it's worth taking the tires off to make the adjustments. I'll try to post some pics of the coil over and rear to show what I mean.

I started to install a light at switch for the future. I got one from CH4x4 and the other from AOB. The CH4x4 fit in the blank and worked no issues, the AOB didn’t fit right and would get stuck on. I’ve read people having the opposite here though.

Anyway, anyone know of a harness to tap into illumination power? Looks like Cali makes one for 3rd gen Tacos but haven’t found anything for us.

Installed my diff lift to finish off the front 3.5” lift and replaced the rear spacer lift with a Dobinson’s 2.5”. Next up an alignment and replacement of a torn CV boot I discovered during this weekend’s upgrade.

Replaced the transmission fluid. Dropped the pan, replaced the filter and flushed out 12L. Kinda tedious with a hand pump, but got it done.. and very happy as the fluid was darkkkkk

Got out to Cleveland National Forest. Hit a fairly easy trail called Bear Valley Road with one of the doggos. Scratched the sides a bit and tested my basic off-road skills. Mostly dirt bikes on the trail but good for 4Runners.

Aired down and up successfully for the first time. Stanley Fat Max air compressor is an incredible little off-road toy. Ride was much more smooth at 28psi than 38psi on the highway.
