labops gear dash mount and 67designs tablet holder/nano arm....sheeeesh this stuff is clean. install of the lab ops mount was ridiculously easy and clean. it looks OEM

is the labops worth the $125 price tag? how do you think it will hold up to heavy things like handheld radios, cell phones, etc. all being mounted up there at the same time. can you access the rear USB port as well. I like that labops mount but the price is steep

fit and finish is remarkable that alone made it worth the price IMO. the two middle inserts do have some flex with my tablet and tablet holder (not light, its aluminum, not plastic lol) havent tried the outer inserts yet. the usb port is perfect. i am not running the usb cover as it raised the usb ports up a bit too much for my taste.

i asked about a thicker mold, and he said they had to make it thinner for some other reasons. I was hoping to be able to run a piece of aluminum under it to connect all 4 inserts but they do not thread all the way through. so i'd have to drill the plastic from under them and run longer bolts to tie the 4 inserts to each other. not sure if thatd help much though.

with the ram ball removed, it really does look like an oem part. which is huge considering its the wife's daily driver.

very detailed thanks. I've been considering it. will think about it more now, getting close to $200 in canadaland $ with shipping and duty so it's steep for sure but definitely useful

thanks for the pics. thats a nice set up. I have my original head unit which works fine but since it's a 2012, it's ancient. I think I'd go with a tablet mount like you have with an ipad rather than upgrade the head unit. I can see that coming in handy for longer unfamiliar road trips and not having to look down constantly at a small screen

Yeah I'm definitely finding as an offroad newbie that a small phone screen doesn't work for navigation on FS roads the same way it does in town. I might have to look at doing a tablet setup on my 3rd gen at some point. Probably just find a decent used tablet that at least has a recent enough version of android to support an offroad app. Not like you need a fresh battery and the latest snapdragon processor for something that will basically just always be plugged in and showing maps and connecting to GPS satellites. I wonder what kind of solid mounting options I could find for a 3rd gen.

I can't say I haven't contemplated this over a replacement head unit that supports Android Auto/Carplay.
