What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

lever or dial shifter? I have the dial shifter (limited trim level) and if I'm in N and shift from H4F to H4L it's instantaneous and the light doesn't even blink once. if if I'm moving, it might blink a few times depending on speed and then go solid. when disengaging it might blink once or twice when moving and instantaneous when in N. I think it just depends on your speed and what gear you're in maybe. but I also have a limited so my front diff is always moving and engaged- I don't know if that matters

I think you're overthinking

It's a lever. I think I'm overthinking this.

Installed a Dobinson’s Snorkel yesterday. Took about three hours, which was probably two hours of fighting with the first fender liner grommet. Tried every possible trick I could find or invent, finally drilled them all out. Waiting for my replacements to be delivered from Amazon to complete the job. Yes, I know I didn’t “need” a snorkel, just “wanted” one.

Removed what little clearcoat was left on my Methods and polished them. I preferred the machined look but had to get them cleaned up. Chome look it is.

That's it? No more pictures or story?

Didn’t want to clutter with unrelated truck.

I winched the truck out and up to the trail, ready to load on trailer. Family friend wants to sell it ($1500).

1964 International Harvester Pickup C1100

It was parked in 1984 with the keys left in the ignition by his uncle, for an unknown reason. It looks to be a complete truck with a 6cyl and standard transmission. I thought about bringing it home myself, but it’s beyond my skill set.

There’s also an old fridge, full of ivory soap that can’t be explained.

H4 Question

This might be a dumb question (probably is) but if I'm going up a mountain with snow/mud and there are curves, how do I navigate through? The steering wheel binds and the consensus is not to turn the wheel all the way when in H4. Or am I supposed to shift from H4 to H2 in between sharp turns? Is the constant shift even okay for the transfer case? I'd suspect some sort of damage in the long run, no?

No damage. It binds in tight turns on surfaces with no slip, so if you have snow, ice, mud you’ll be fine.

I just drove across the state on frozen roads, bare in places and frost in others, but I stayed in 4H. No issues.

Frozen brake caliper (she’s rusty).

Broken caliper bolt.

Pinhole in brake line.

All wrapped up good as new with akebono premium pads, centric premium rotors, nickel copper brake line, and a Napa lifeline painted caliper.

This one is one of two that are going to get doused living up here. Bring on the Mag Chloride!

Went out in the rain and got stuck. I was stuck for about 3 hours along with another 3rd gen that I came across on the trail. Got a chance to use all my gear. Traction boards, shovel, strap, soft shackles, hell I even put my snow chains on at one point. I know the pic doesn’t look like much but the mud was like peanut butter. The road was so slick I couldnt straddle the middle and it sent me off to the side in to deep soft mud. The 3rd gen got sent the opposite way into a washed out rut. Needless to say, I will be spending my Sunday washing out the inside of my car because every inch of the drivers seating area is coated in mud.

found a way to have a removable speaker for my ham setup. routed a quick connect under the console so I can easily remove speaker or console if I have to. I couldn't really find a good spot for my speaker except for this spot. some people put it right under the console storage latch, thought about that too but the quick connect wouldn't fit nicely there. the good thing with this set up is if I ever wanted to return to factory and didn't want a hole in the console, that black piece of trim can be purchased on it's own and it's not expensive vs. replacing the entire silver piece

I used scotch extreme double fastener to secure it. it seems to be ok, but if I don't like it or it doesn't hold well I'll bolt it down and make it permanent. excuse the excess bundle of wire, it's a work in progress. I hadn't seen anyone mount a speaker like this so thought I'd share and maybe inspire someone lol
