Replaced my broken side mirror, Amazon truck, and installed some FoCal IS690Toy speakers up front with Dynamat sound material. Nice clean sound, much more clarity. Dynamat make the doors feel better on closing and it is a tad bit quieter inside.

This weekend I installed a CBI front bumper and winch and tore down a 10x20 shed at a friend's place and hauled that off to the dump.

Took it to the dealer because the alternator blew at 65k.

Good thing I bought the extended warranty when I bought it. They called saying they are going to cover the alternator and the battery, which is nice. Taking 3 days to get parts is not.

At least they gave me an SR5 as a loaner, so it's not all bad.

How much would the alternator replacement cost without the extended warranty?

It was about 1100 for alternator, charging harness, battery, and labor. I can get an exact number in the morning if you'd really like.

Batteries were explicitly not covered in the warranty, but the service writer tried anyway and it worked. The concluded the alternator cooked the battery. The day before it really died, it was blocking the signal to the TPMS, which was throwing a light up.

Negotiated the warranty at the time of sale. $1500 for 125k or 6yrs. Well on it's way to paying for itself.

Your estimate is about what I thought. I replaced the alternator myself at 319K miles. New Denso alternator was $326 plus shipping. Took me about 2 hours to do the job in freezing weather.

Last week I replaced the Bilstein shocks with Eibach. The Bilstein's were shot...

I removed the sway bar mounts to make it easier. One of the nuts inside the frame rail broke loose from its welds. I had to cut the bolt.

I used a rivet nut in its place. Worked great.

Installed a Derale Transmission cooler. Used some generic L brackets to have it sit off the radiator. I wanted it to be more on the passenger side but my relocated winch box sits in the way. Definitely should have done this sooner, never went over 185 even on the long uphill climbs on i70 where peak transmission temps can get to 200 or more.

Also retired my old 27" lightbar that I had in the upper grille area to allow more airflow to the cooler and installed some Diode Dynamics SS5 sport pods.

There a set of profile hi-lens projectors retrofitted into the high beams. I also have morimoto bi-led projectors so I have them wired so the hi-lens also turn on when with the bi-leds as well. They are also backlit as well so I have the backlight function on as a drl.

I did think about it, but it was supposed to just be a roof repair... I got the read bumper installed yesterday, and I tested my work by pulling a 5k lb trailer... the bumper is still attached, so I guess I did an OK job.

I've replaced a lot of alternators but THIS ONE.
Why in the world would Toyota put a bracket brace on the back of the alternator with 2 x 12mm bolts that cannot be reached unless you remove the driver side tire and hit it from the wheel well with a double extension and universal?

I'd rather slam my head in a sliding glass door!

If it goes out again - can o gasoline and a match!

Just kidding... but engineers can be d**ks when designing new ways of complicating our lives.

I only have an output pic of the projectors by themselves. These are also the MLED 1.0 projectors, not the 2.0. I think my only gripe is that the beam pattern isn't very wide, however with the fogs on it's not a problem. Definitely satisfied with the output, beam intensity, and cutoff. I can only assume the 2.0 are better. I agree with you, a lot of these aftermarket options may look great but the actually performance of the projectors in them are garbage. I think the Morimotos are the only ones I would trust to have decent output for a complete housing replacement.

I'll try to grab some output pics and DM to you with the profile hi-lens. I actually have one clocked 90 degrees off so it's pretty funny to have one with an up and down pattern while the other is left to right. Doesn't bother me too much since they're just a secondary high beam to the MLEDs. They throw a ton of light, great bang for the buck as a secondary projector.

Have you not done a starter on a 5th gen? It's basically a decision, do I want to take off the driver's side exhaust manifold or do I want to disassemble the starter, feed it through the LCA, and then reassemble above the LCA before bolting it in... much easier than the alternator, but about the same pain in the knuckles.
