Replaced the headrest retainer and locking clips on one of the rear seats. It was a pain in the ass, but not impossible. I should have done a how-to, but was just hurrying to get it done.
If anyone wants to tackle the same project and has questions, feel free to PM me and I can share my knowledge with you. FYI, the charcoal ones have been discontinued. I scored a set on eBay, and ended up costing less than half as new.

Did the 30k mile fluid service. Engine w/ Mobile1 synthetic, both diffs and transfer case with Valvoline 75w90 synthetic, and transmission is curing FIPG from a filter replacement but will get Valvoline Maxlife synthetic in the morning. Coolant was done last week with the timing belt and water pump, Zerex Asian.
Most folks never see the inside of their transmissions... I won't go back into the 4runner myself (unless a failure requires it).
Only fluid left at this point is the power-steering. I'll get to it, but have other projects that take precedence for the moment.

Can someone with rock sliders installed take a quick measurement for me?
Going to have mine installed soon and want to make sure I have them installed the proper distance from the frame.
What is your measurement from the frame to the point where the legs are welded to the slider?

Thanks man! They were pretty beat to start. I repainted them with VHT Silver wheel paint from Autozone. Prep was wash, go over the whole wheel face with maroon 3M scotchbrite, wash again, and wipe down with alcohol.

Finished my AT flush from yesterday.... I got CHUNKS out:
Several hard plugs, took about the same force as needed to smash a Reeces Pieces (less than needed for an M&M) to crack it open. Inside looked like a plug of red clay, very dry, outside had metal flakes and there were a few in the bottom of the bucket. I didn't notice anything in the fluid I drained from the pan yesterday.
Fun times... off to buy a magnafine filter

(Not today but over the weekend) Front end work - KYB shocks, top plate spacers, new LCA bushings, and POR-15 on everything in sight.
Also finally installed the drum-to-axle gaskets that I had laying around forever and kept forgetting to install:

Beautiful work, Leon. That last thing, though... I think they owe you something. Care to share the offender's identity? Tire store? Specialty shop? Indie shop?

why did you go with rubber LCA bushings when some of the stuff on your car is already poly?

i hate to break this to you, but that sharpie isnt going to stay. you will need to paint it if you want it to stay. the wheels are very clean though!

that is not pretty, sorry, hope all is ok...might be a little late for a magnafine, but I was not impressed with what they call a filter on the stock tranny on these 4runners, and added a magnafine after my first tranny pan drop and clean at 145 k ( right after I bought it)

Well, it's had that crud in there for 194k miles and it's out now. If there's blowback from my actions, then they're already done and nothing I can do about it now. Shifted fine on my ~20 mile test loop, but only time will tell at this point. Hopefully I didn't flush more of that crud into a worse place though.
Just a shame. Not really unexpected as I've gone through this 4runner to baseline it, but a shame none the less. I paid "top condition, cared for" price and received used-car-lot condition, but I can't change that either.

Thanks! As for the alignment, I have the lifetime alignment deal with Firestone, so it cost me nothing other than my time. The alignment numbers look OK, but this just shows total lack of caring or attention to detail. The bellows would have been toast within a few weeks if I hadn't noticed this. And people wonder why we do our own work on our trucks, sheesh.
I went back and forth on that, finally decided that I didn't want to risk the noise of poly control arm bushings, so went with OEM. The poly bushings you see are for the rack guide, so they do not constantly move like LCA bushings do. People swear by Whitelines, but I just decided to go OEM.

. Fortunately the "fix" here took 5 seconds - squeeze the spring clamp, rotate the boot into a free position, release clamp. Easy peasy.I go to an alignment shop. Not Goodyear, Firestone, Les Schwab or Walmart, etc. Klamm Alignment here in town. One shop, and it's all they do. I don't settle for anyone less qualified.

I have a local alignment shop like this here as well, they work on race Porsches and are very old-school and thorough. I take my other cars there, but I signed up for the lifetime Firestone deal with the 4Runner. May end up rethinking it after this experience.

The alignment shop forget to remove the clamp before adjusting the otre?
How was it working with the POR 15? How was it working with it under the truck? My experience painting vertical surfaces has never been pretty.

Yup.
It's easy to work with, does not run at all unless you put it on too thick. It's rock hard when cured, I've never seen another paint like it.
