Today, am new and did this!

Washed the butt or back end of 1997 Toyota 4Runner and thinking about getting a Keyless FOB to open and lock the doors, but do not know which one to buy! Am reading about it, but still it is going to cost way past my allowance amount! Tomorrow it will get a Vacuuming! Hurrah! Aloha!

Another new member, rebuilt/cleaned my front seats

Picked up a clean/orig 2000 4Runner, 2WD, 2.7 5 speed, one owner, 160K.
Interior needed TLC, rebuilt/cleaned both front seats using parts from 2 donor cars. As bought drivers seat (I doubt it was ever cleaned) and end result.
First 4Runner for me, have owned Toyota pickups/Tacomas since the early 1990s, so not too foreign territory for me.

Day one of ownership for me. I pulled the running boards off my '00 SR5 (big improvement IMO) tossed in some *okay* floor mats, made a spare key, and discovered a crack in my OE Toyota 5 spoke rim. So I added that to my To Do ASAP list.

cleaned a ton of glass after my passenger window got popped by someone who took my climbing pack. I made two runs to the truck to load gear. Went in to say bye to the family and grab the dogs...boom! Didn't go climbing, instead cleaned the glass outta every nook and cranny, then installed a new window.

So some dime biscuit broke your window out while you were making trips into the house to load up???

New air filter and spark plugs. Not too exciting, but I did save like $90 on a pair of Napa 7 ton jack stands! Also ordered new intake tubing between intake box and throttle body (both needed replacement), new clamps for intake tubing, fuel filler cap and fuel filter.

Yup load one was the sleeping bag and camp kitchen gear. Locked vehicle. Load two was dog gear climbing pack and cooler. Locked vehicle. Took a piss, kissed the wife goodbye, grabbed my coffee, leashed two dogs, then WTF?!:wow:

Pulled my glass covered seat cover off my drivers seat and drove laps around the area but didn't see anyone. But did find 3 other vehicles just streets over that also had windows popped.

Decided to dye the rear bumper trim piece based on another post in this thread.

Looks pretty good. Only question is how will it last. This weekend I'll do the front bumper.

Car was fairly clean so prep was wipe down trim with wet (water) microfiber towel and then wipe down with towel soaked with IPA. Tape the area no matter how good you think you are applying this stuff. It will get where you do not want it.

My guess is I used 3 ounces to do this, and the remaining 3 ounces should be enough to do the front bumper. It takes a little practice to learn to evenly cover an area. Also, pay careful attention to not miss any uneven areas like the raised bars in these pix.

What did I do today, huh? Brilliant question!

Today, I finished installing the rear end of my lift kit. I purchased the Toytec/Eibach Boss Kit over Black Friday. Let me tell you, installing the front struts/coil overs was a death sentence. I did not have a fun time doing that. But with that being said, the back end was much easier... kind of. Removing the OEM shocks was such a pain that we ended up sawing through them. With that being said, getting the Toyetc Boss shocks and the rear Toytec lift coils was a cakewalk.
Ironically, I drove it around for 20 miles, turned it off while I went inside to get a few things, and when I went to start up the truck again the darn thing wouldn't start. Looks like I need a new fuel pump (it'll turn over but it doesn't sound like fuel is getting to the engine. No codes are coming up either) :/

Buy an aftermarket upper control arm. not only will it help fix your alignment, post lift, you can actually pull the front suspension out much easier with an aftermarket UCA. there is a fantastic DIY thread on here that discusses removal of the OEM balljoint via a cut off wheel.

i installed my 3" lift kit from toy tech before i put in the UCA and i should have waited and done everything at once. i remember how it was not easy cramming that front coilover in with the stock UCA. My UCA is a total chaos arm and i love it.

took the snow off and went for groceries...after 10 day in Kona...my winter break...now back to -20...that's like a hundred degree change for me on one day
glad I don't live where things rust...sad to see so many rusted not so old cars...and these old 4runners are old...
you can tell who loves them...look good...and you can see 4runner rust buckets....as well as any car type
saw new year in style....not pounding beer or streetcreepers choice of attitude adjustment ( first for me) but watching all the locals do fireworks and some made me feel like a local....thanks guys...thanks ladies

What's the appeal of the locker in 4wd high? I find 4lo to be more enjoyable to use offroad. Plus the transmission runs cooler in 4lo as well.

Sometimes you don't need max torque, and honestly I like being able to use it in 2wd as well.

FWIW, i believe the sticker on my door says not to use the locker when going faster than 10-15 mph. is this true?

i wanted to do the grey wire mod/any time mod eventually so i could lock in 2wd (for those snowy parking lot days )
