Installed OME 861 springs, FJ80 shocks, and 2nd gen swaybar links. Much better now.

New guy, first post

Bought a '98 limited last Sunday; it received a love tap in the front end in the past, so this weekend i started removing bits from the front. Managed to find two front quarter panels at the salvage yard as well as things like part of the wiring harness for the corner lights and parking lights, which someone cut off my vehicle.

Does anyone have any advice for how to mount fender flares onto non-fender flare fenders?

Greased my drive shaft in hopes of getting rid of a slight clunk when Shifting into D. No luck i believe. Also very slight play at the double cardan... maybe I should look into a junkyard driveshaft? slight vibrations around 65-70 mph

I could use that answer too since the mounts are square holes.

Run your finger on the back of the “square holes” and see if it’s a sealed/ gasket. If so just get a flat head and pop them off. That’s what I had. Also might need some elbow grease.:boxer:

cant do it that way for me...I need a fender, near impossible to find up here...and shipping new is crazy expesive even aftermarket. ( fender 90, shipping over 300) what I was refering to is taking a non flare fender with no holes and putting in the holes, prob is the holes for the clips on the flare are square. Wrecking yard up here has 3 non flare fenders, one even my color

I'm intimately familiar with the Limited cladding fastening, having taken all of mine off to have repainted.

Here are the factory attach holes in the Limited fender, that's a lot of holes to drill:

If you are trying to mount limited cladding to a non-Limited fender (i.e. no holes), you can either drill holes and then square them with a file (to accommodate the clips), or try to skip rely entirely on double sided tape. Or maybe something in between, like a couple of holes and double sided tape.

Finally finished the install of a set of 4XI skid plates and the MF Overland kit.

The skid set, a ghetto paint booth, a quality primer job and a crappy rattle can top coat in an odd color choice ("Dark Taupe" - hey that's what I had)......

The rear exhaust flange was rusted solid - the only rust on the rig. I tried many forms of liquid penetration for a couple weeks but finally rounded off the bolt heads with an impact wrench. LOL. Nothing is easy for me, so I had to cut the stock exhaust with a tiny hacksaw. I found the 'most aggressive' exhaust (no J-bend, no resonator) setting to be 'normal' to my ear and didn't bother with the anti-drone resonator. This system is so easy to work with, I'll pop it on for a long road trip beginning next week and see how that does on the freeway. The whole system could be 1/2" shorter to line up with the rear hanger a little better but I can fine-tune that bit later, or not.

Yeah, I think I like the idea of double sided tape.

I'm trying to dream up a way to create a template to even be close to the correct locations of the holes and then try to square them off-- double sided tape sounds like the right way to go.

thanks, looking at picture, and being that I only have one fender to do, thats only 6 holes and that should not be too bad. Did not think about taking a file to the holes to square them, but when you said that it was like ....duhhhh.
plua I will have the old fender for a guide as well as holding up the flare

In the middle of a 268K facelift on my '01. And a lurker for years. Finally posting.

Here's an older before I found laying around:

And an after over the last couple weeks (lift, wheels & tires, bumpers, etc):

I installed a powerstop tundra BBK over last weekend, and will hopefully replace everything with the rear drums this weekend. Also still chasing down a couple small things, like a surging idle I think I may have caused by fouling my TPS when cleaning the TB last week. So hoping the TPS that showed up today will help fix that (so I don't have to get a new TB)... now for the rain to stop so install it...

I think I am going to order LBJ's and do those preventatively. Just makes me feel better. Also, have projectors on the way. Maybe I'll throw a thread together detailing everything, but it looks like it may be a little late for an in-progress thread I guess...

Cheers.
