What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

..wohoo....just a pinch above 14mpg...first time in months.......so glad that spring has sprung and i spend time out of 4wd. still got a 2+ mile to black pavement to town, and 2+m miles uphill on ice to get home. ( both in 4wd) ....but wohoo.....16mpg not far away
plus i love my j shift....mechanical...just shift in or out....an old guy with simple mechanical pleasures. love this 4runner....one of the best rigs i have owned...i love thier simplicity and reliability but a few years ago I wondered how one would do when i moved to alaska....they kick butt...just dont wreck one as parts ( not simple on line parts) are few and far between.

That's how I came back this morning after dropping the kids at school. I had to remind them to JUMP out unless they want to look like they had a diarrhea crisis all over their pants I'm going to have to rethink these mud guards I reckon. At least they mostly keep gravel off the rocker panels.

Only Stevie Wonder would have a problem not seeing the difference between the Sport and non-Sport seats.

Those part numbers are for sport seats. Do you have sport seats? If you don’t have sport seats did they still fit okay?

They just look like regular cloth seats to me. What’s the difference?

EDIT: I should have phrased that differently. They look the same as the cloth seats (dimensionally) in my 2000 SR5 and I have not been able to find anyone stating sport seats are x inches of seat back side bolster protrusion over SR5 cloth seats. I also haven’t seen enough cloth seats from 01-02 to know if the sport cloth seat fabric was different from a base seat fabric.

The reason I’m looking for that information is to know if the seat bottom and back cushions for a sport seat will work with my base seat covers. The base seat cushions are unavailable. If the sport seat cushions are dimensionally different enough then my base seat covers aren’t going to fit correctly.

Decided to re-badge my rear hatch after having removed the badges shortly after I got my rig. It looks super weird to have them back on! But I like it. I also removed all decals from the windows, to include my T4R sticker. Had it on for over 8 years. Momo.75 makes incredible vinyl, it was just time to remove it since it was cracking and slightly peeling. But overall I’m pleased with the simpler, basic look. Hoping to do a drain and fill on the trans this upcoming week, too

Did you adjust the rear brakes? If they are too slack the pedal will be squishy.

The rears will activate if I pump the brakes but that was before and after I put in a new (bench bled) master cylinder. I am also having ABS issues where I don't hear the pump come on.

This is my first vehicle with rear drums so I attempted best I could to adjust them. Hand brake pulls within the 5-9 clicks and no leaks within the drums. The rears will activate if I pump the brakes but that was before and after I put in a new (bench bled) master cylinder. I am also having ABS issues where I don't hear the pump come on.

The master cylinder requires you to block off the fluid out connections with your fingers when you bench bleed them. You can't just route the output back into the reservoir. Did you do that?

I assumed "sport" meant more bucket like with bigger side bolsters but the leather and SR5 ones look the same dimensions to me? It seems to mean the fabric type but that doesn't make sense when you're just buying foam. Unless it's refers to the adjustment control differences? Or simply the firmness level of the foam?

The second question is if it's worth replacing the spring frame or whatever is behind the foam as well?

Going off the part numbers and descriptions (cross referenced with a couple toyota parts websites) the sport and limited (leather) seat cushions are the same part number. It would be nice if they were dimensionally the same but different foam firmness as that wouldn't change seat fabric fitment. I wasn't a fan of the seats in my Limited, but I think that was mostly the lumbar support was too much even with it set as low as possible. I don't think sport seats have the lumbar adjustment. I guess I'm Ray Charles lol

I know the mesh grill is supposed to look cleaner or more retro (actually looks too modern to my eye) but I think how you have it fits in better with the 90s era vibe of the rest of truck, yet still retro. They should have came like this to begin with IMO.

Thanks, it's actually a 96-98 4-Cyl grille. The v6 grille was chrome outline - I'm trying to get away from chrome lol
