What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Well today I installed my CBI ditch light brackets and rigid d2 hyperspots I got from the group buy last week. I also installed the rigid high/low d2 driving lights in the CBI front bumper. Sure is bright outside now!
 
Got an open box deal from Crutchfield for a JVC KD-X220 and installed. Found an old Dorito chip under the shifter trim left from the previous owner, ate it, thinking about my life choices.

Went to Frys Electronics, parked next to a 6 door land yacht.

Bought a Cobra 18 WXST II cheaper than it would have cost from Amazon. I like the features of this radio, front firing speaker NOAA channels and its just the right size to replace the plastic bucket under the JVC.

Need to find a local shop with short fire ring cables and connectors. Going to use the CBI mount, not keen on the back corner deal or drilling holes or using a magnet that will fall of and break a window after it scratches my paint. Not trying to call E.T's parents to come get him, just want to be able to have comm with people in my group.

You need to go in and adjust the rear brakes most likely if your parking brake isn't working at all. Do a search for how to adjust them. Basically when I did mine I adjusted the shoes out until they just barely touched the drums, then I backed them off a bit. Once that is done and you confirm they are working see if your parking brake still doesn't work. If it doesn't but the brakes are properly adjusted then you need to adjust the parking brake upfront at the handle. There is a jamnut system you can adjust it with. This is also assuming your cable is good and the bellcranks aren't frozen.

Once you get it working you really should use it every-time you park it. It's easier on the transmission because you aren't rolling onto the parking pin every-time and it will keep the rear brakes adjusted properly.

Thanks for the follow-up Unner.

I thought we did adjust the shoes all the way out. We got them to where when we spun the drum they were dragging just ever so slightly. We backed it up a lot right after having it done to get them to self-adjust. I'm hoping they just didn't all the way. I wonder if it may be because the drums looked like they were turned before and maybe the shoes just need to wear to the drum? This may just be my logic, I'm no mechanic. This is just the best I can come up with. I did think about adjusting the parking brake cable, but worried if the shoes do self-adjust further that could that put undue stress on the parking brake cable.

I do always use the parking brake anytime I park.
 
This was over the weekend. Installed my B&M tranny cooler, bypassed the radiator. AT oil temps are fine. We used a laser thermometer to check the send and return lines, the return line was 30 degrees cooler than the send, so it's doing its job!

Also, put some Sea Foam in the gas tank and filled 'er up. Headed to Pensacola today from Oconee County, SC.

Hey, sorry for not responding! Got it from Japan for around $80 shipped. Just repainted it, but need to do some touch-up work, plus I'm waiting for a tray I bought for the 3rd din. Will post on my build thread. Feel free to check it out!

Well normally I would say yes but since I lost all my pictures on my SD card I have nothing right now. I just got her back from the shop anyhow. I had the front axle gone through. I twisted on of the Cromo Axles then took out a seal on the left side. So it is now all good again. I just don't do gearing stuff myself. That is an art all in it's self.

how about a picture after cb installed. trying to figure out where to put one, as I was gonna mount my scan gauge there

charcoal canister for 01-02's, located above the spare tire. after 14 years, the hoses were cracked and and CEL was tripping codes for evap problems, so i decided to replace with OE canister.

Where did you order the Charcoal canister and how much. I'm pretty sure I need one.
 
adjusted rear brakes which made a huge difference.
inspected the fronts, looked good
the dealer did new rotors and pads with previous owner less than 40k ago
adjustment helped a lot with brakes and now my parking brake travel is reduced.


so I might just delay my big break upgrade and just put in some hawk pads or ebc yellows to get me through the summer
and put the money into other fun things for now,
like new shocks and springs ( got the sag action going on)

gonna do the DTR delete this afternoon
add another alternator ground, that I read about on the forums, since Ill be right there doing the DTR delete
also gonna play with a engine compartment light,
and the metal horn upgrade (louder)
so gonna go crusie the local wrecking yards ( its my day off) now and look for "stuff"
