What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I recently finished some repairs on the transmission and emission junk so I could register my truck for the year. Of course, after all my hard work, I failed a California smog test because of one nox reading.

Hahaha — guess I will start with a new O2 sensor and clean the MAF & see if that works. I don't know shit about this stuff. So I don't even want to know what a new cat would cost if fails on the retest.

Not once you redo all the dash lights too.

Based on my experience with the dome light LED's... Less is more. I've got an 48smd in the cargo area that makes it like daylight, a 24smd in the passenger compartment and 9's in the maplights.

All too bright. Haha

I replaced domes, maps, climate controls, key ring, glove box, and ash tray with bright white. I love them. The ash tray has a green lens so it's still green. The climate controls look funny because the old bulbs yellowed the display stickers right in front of the bulbs, so it's a 2 tone look. But I left the cluster green.

Installed 880/906 springs with blistein 5100s on the front....kinda disappointed with the fronts....on the first notch, they provided zero lift. I think I will raise it to the second notch next weekend and see how it goes from there. Will probably need a 10 mm trim packer on the driver rear to equal the back out.

Sadly I had to get my 4R loaded up for work after a week off for a trip to Big Bend Ranch State Park. While I will not miss the blizzard I am already missing the trails and lack of going to work.

Had a #4 cylinder misfire. Found a hole in the Denso spark plug tube. Found a set of new OEM wires on Ebay for $45 with free shipping. Picked up a new Denso coil for #1 cylinder for good measure. Good to go now.

After replacing all three solenoids in my transmission and doing a 16qt flush the other day, I took the wife and kids up to the high Sierras to play in the snow. 160 mile round trip heavily loaded with 3 kids, snow gear, myself and the wife. My fuel mileage improved significantly even in those driving conditions. Up 3.7 mpg from last fill up.

I imagine it will get a little better once I clean the MAF and replace the upstream O2 so I can pass smog.

Anyways, I would not have thought the solenoids and flush would make such a difference.

Not bad for a nearly 20 year old truck with 390,000 miles.

Finally got some new shoes. Couldn't pass on the price. Hate Wal-Mart and spent enough time there yesterday for the rest of the year but decided to take a chance on these tires. Ran into a fella with a 3rd gen getting a second set of the same tires as the last set finally wore out after 5 years. Debating starting a long term review thread on these tires. Seems some people love them and some hate them.

I have those same Goodyear Authority tires and am very happy with them just wish they had larger sizes. There's a 15 page thread on Tacomaworld and everyone seems to love them. Only have 8k on mine so far.
