What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Well after refurbishing the front end with all new bushings I still had a random pop sound. I thought maybe it's the sway bar since I bought aftermarket links and poly bushings. So I disconnected it and sure enough that's what it was.
So I put the original sway bar links back on with the new rubber bushings from the new links and viola it's fine. The poly end link bushings I bought, the holes are too big so I think the sway bar moved around causing the pop sound. I heard this to be an issue with universal poly bushings (that the internal diameter of the whole to be much bigger than the diameter of the part; in my case the end link).

After cheap OTRE and sway bar parts I learned my lesson, just go OEM...

Your post just confused the shit out of me.

So problem was an aftermarket swaybar END LINK? Because I just bought some aftermarket AC DELCO end links I was about to throw on.

Didn't do it myself because of lack of time and knowledge so I took it into my favorite local shop and got the front brake pads and rotors replaced, new fuel filter, new plugs and wires, cleaned out my MAF, transmission service, front and rear axle serviced, and induction service. Pretty good for $900....She's all set for a while now.

CBI ditch light mounts. Ordered parts for HID retrofit including new depo headlights. You can see my broken headlight lens in the pic.

Sounds to me like the problem was with the bushing itself. The inner diameter of the bushing is greater than the diameter of the bar, so it has room to move. General bushing image below: size of A was too big.

I had this same issue on my Tahoe's sway bar a long time ago. The OE worn bushing had too much play in it, so the bar kept popping when it "swayed" enough. I bought the correct size diameter polyurethane aftermarket bushings and fixed the issue.

I think the OP's trouble is that they got either the wrong size or too "universal" of a bushing. Need to make sure you get the right bushings made for the right diameter and all will be good (whether its OE or aftermarket). :yo:

Exactly what I was trying to explain. Thank you :)

You're welcome. :yo: I think the only reason I know exactly what you were saying was going through the same thing with my Tahoe. hah. I remember crawling under it and measuring the sway bar size and then comparing to the spec sheets of the bushings I was ordering and whatnot.. And the Tahoes have two different sized sway bars during those years, so I had to get it all 100%..

Anyways..
:focus:
I did a bunch of research today for my 3rd Gen into how stock 4Runners look with 265/75/R16 tires on em without a lift. Getting new tires this year (and probably not lifting it yet).. so I keep going back and forth whether I want to stick with my standard 265/70's or go up to the 265/75's. :noidea:

I'm lifted 3" and I can occasionally get rub hitting a bump while turning hard enough with 265/75/16s. I can imagine it would be even worse with stock height. I definitely get rub if I'm fully stuffed.

Really?? Wow.. man. There are so many different situations out there. Bunch of people say they dont rub, others do. I keep going back and forth. And now back again. hah.
:boom:

Made this 06 Prius OEM camera work in my cab. Didn't plumb it yet as I wanted to see it working 1st.
Bought a device from Beat-Sonic BC1SUS to make it work with my Clarion MAX675VD.

Made a couple of those '4 dollar window screens' from the recently resurrected thread - seems like they will work well!

I was also putzing around under the truck (still learning my way around it) and noticed that a bolt was missing from what I think is the parking brake bracket on the rear axle, leaving the cable hanging. Anyone know what bolt or additional hardware I need to attach this?

Hanging free:

Where I think it should be attached:

It's not a normal bolt, iirc.....made so the bracket can pivot on it.

'12mm unbolts from the bottom. Keep track of how this one comes apart. You will need the weird plastic washer, hang onto it along with any hardware you take off.'

Wade inchannel wind/rain deflectors. Ordered off amazon for same price as the ghetto fabulous stick on ones. Will get pics of my Runner soon.

alignment after replacing LCA bushings. not bad. toe was off a little. everything else was in the green. rides way better now.

now to get my mileage up from a crappy 15mpg!
