Replaced bulbs in Field Monitor Unit with some Superbright LEDs after one had burnt out. Blew the fuse when I went to remove so swapped it out. New bulbs are a warm white. Wiring up the temp sensor this weekend while I've got the bumper off.

While I was at it also worked on wiring the Prado Accessory Meter. Will run behind the dash and piggy back off of the FMU as much as possible. After some modification it will sit over the ac vents.

Dropping the Whitson rack off for coating tomorrow and will try to match the bumper paint finish up. :guitar2: Cheers!

More parts were installed tonight - the radio speakers were all reconnected and the CB was physically installed. It only lacks wire which will be handled with the fuse box soon.

Took intake and valve covers off to start my project. Timing marks were off barely, but a lot of varnish and NO sludge! Good day in my book. Puling heads off tomorrow to get get checked and cleaned up.:guitar2:

I've had my 97 for about 9 months and when I bought it one of the two things that did not work was the rear key lock/window. I must have tried a dozen times with wd40, pb, graphite...wouldn't budge!! Went so far as to have a key made at the dealer...nothing. Saw that the vin on the hatch matched the car so...why would the lock be changed? Puzzling. Key went in but that's it, no left or right. Tonight I stuck the key in and in a moment of frustration gave the key a pop with my hand...viola! A working rear lock/window!! Who knows how long that lock had been Frozen. Only a Toyota. Love my runner.

Several hours of work, and 7 sawzall blades later, got the old control arm off and put the new control arm on.

This was due to absolutely frozen and unmovable adjuster cams on both bushings. I tried a variety of things, heat, PBLaster, twisting (broke a wrench), hammering, prying, and combinations of those as well. Even left the bolts loose and drove around a little bit to see if it could knock something loose. Nothing.

So I used a sawzall to cut the adjuster cam on both sides. 4 cuts in total. Took forever, and whatever those adjusters are made of is pretty tough, it would dull a blade down fairly quickly.

I'd have just put new bushings into the old A-arm, but I couldn't have the truck down all that long. I'll keep it around just in case - could be used again if needed by installing new bushings.

Now off to get it aligned.

PS: Stretched and reclamped that inner boot. I put a lift on a month ago or so, and the boots have been leaking a bit of grease out of the small end of the inner boot. Hopefully the stretch lets it seal and survive.

I've been thinking of doing these as well.. plus new blades.. What's the part to that base the blade plugs into?

Do you know the right size blade to get? I want to get a synthetic or whatever the high quality version is. Confused on the numerous sizes when I was checking out blades on Amazon...
