What did you do to your 3rd gen today?

Installed the avs in channel visors and bug deflector.

I also discovered it does in fact fit in my single garage with my workbench.
Looks like that means I need to get some plastic sheeting to park on and I'll be tackling coating the underside this weekend.

4WD actually. Totalled my old CR-V (the other drivers fault), so I took the opportunity to get the 3rd gen 4runner I always wanted. 2000 4WD with locking rear diff, the supercharger was just a bonus!

I was going to ask if it leaks water to the engine, but then I saw that youa re in el Centro!! Been there many times on our way down through Mexicali and south.

Any idea what the weight difference between your style frame and wood of same size? Been looking at doing a cargo box after the tbu is done on mine.

No idea what a wood frame weighs, although I'm pretty sure my metal frame is way lighter. The frame weighs less than 10 pounds for sure, and can support me standing on it and I'm 265lbs. It will be skinned with 20ga steel, which shouldn't even add 1 pound. The plywood on the top will be the heaviest part.

yea rain really isnt an issue here haha in the summer when its 115 to 120 degrees this will help a lot

I screwed up my leather repair job!

I tried to repair a leather hole in the driver side seat and it turned out terrible.
I made a video out of it so people could learn from my mistake. I used the Permatex vinyl and leather repair kit.

Last night I prepped for a day trip up to Coyote Flat to do some fishing. Today these arrived at my UPS box. Stubbs got them to me within 6 business days of ordering. I really need to buy a welder now.

Take your time. I followed BigfishAllday write up and went smoothly. The only trouble I had was finding the punch to take out the notch from the nut. You need something sharp and hard to get underneath. You may have to turn it a bit to get an angle for the punch. If you follow BFAD write up he uses paint to mark alignment. I used a hole punch to mark the alignment...wont rub off. Used a flat head screw driver to leverage the old seal off. Do it gently to not scuff the side wall. I didn't have to take the grease zerk off to push the shaft back. I just muscled it enough to slide it off the bolts.

I got a gallon of LPS 3 and sprayed the shit out of the inside of my frame through every hole possible.

LPS 3 is a long term rust inhibitor that dries to a self healing wax finish. It is supposed to last 1 year outside in the elements.

I will be spraying it twice a year, once in the spring and once in fall.

I already knocked the majority of rust off the entire underside awhile back and spray it with rust reformer.

I also sprayed the LPS 3 on the diff cover since it was previously pretty rusty. It's all painted now but why not throw a coat of the LPS 3 on it too!

Those of us in the rust belt need to make sure we do what we can to save our frames.
