Cavity waxed the frame and wire wheeled all of the surface rust off and then undercoated the frame for winter!

Also I put new lift gate struts in! I know it's small but it was bugging me only going up 3/4 of the way!

Exposed bolt heads? No thanks. I've seen where rocks have hit the protection welded on around the heads of the bolts on my Savage skids, and the round carriage bolt heads. I could see those getting destroyed.

Suggestions to fix that? Counter sink them?

Planning on replacing them with some rounded-head bolts in the near future. I wanted to make sure everything lined up properly first.

Drove it, it was awesome. Loving these new Bilstein shocks.

Also did the Big 3 Upgrade. Still getting a voltage drop. Alternator or battery going??

Nothing special, but I changed my LBJ's for peace of mind. While doing that I noticed it was time for new tie-rods. They were just flopping around with no resistance when disconnected from the LBJ. Figure I'll change those when I do the lift. So I can align everything at once.

changed a rusty ass fuel filter and got a new gas cap at the same time

Truck seems to have more...pep. So it was worth it.

Pro Tip: Use a piece of 1/2" thick wood behind the fuel filter to allow you to break through the rust

And use PB.

What did you do to your 3rd gen today?

New springs in the back and new struts and springs in the front. What a PIA the fronts were to get loose had to cut both drivers side and passenger side inside nut on the top. Some rust removal via abrasive wheel and fresh matte black paint on the frame for winter.

Today I swapped out the ECU and started her up for the first time since August. :bounce:

I decided to replace the rubber transmission line hose when I replace the radiator. Looking at the original rubber hose on the radiator transmission fluid output, it appeared to me that the line was pre-formed with bends, much like the coolant lines. OEM replacement hose is much more expensive but I figured I'd better get OEM for the output side (32942-35110) since there is a 90-degree bend, so I wouldn't risk pinching off flow of transmission fluid through the radiator and downstream into the transmission. I also decided to purchase aftermarket line made by Continental and sold by Derale P/N13017 (instead of OEM 32941-35260) for the other side since that is a straight shot, and to save a little $$$. Well lo and behold, the OEM hose is not pre-bent. So now I will just send back the OEM hose and use the extra aftermarket line I bought. You can order the Derale hose by the foot on ebay here:

Below is a pic of the OEM hose that I thought would be pre-formed with bends at the top, and the aftermarket Derale hose below it. I also cut a small piece of the Derale hose and put it next to the OEM so you can see the outer diameter of the Derale hose is the same size.

Finally got around to making an upper arm for mockup and see if it cycles correctly with the coilovers. Hopefully try it out this weekend along with replacing my torn cv boots.

It's getting to be a habit...starting to finish up other projects. Installed, with a bit a of hesitation, my Whiteline bushings and the Wheeler bumpstops. Another project done...but wait...there's more....
