Yes, all that from the impact of the motorcycle. Old Newton and his laws never sleep! It only makes sense that the damage was in the lower control arm considering the bike impacted me at significant speed almost center of the tire. Plus I was moving as well.
OK, you seem befuzzled with what I was doing;
To answer your questions:
- I had no problem removing the bushing from my old spindle once I removed it from my truck (no gusset installed). I just pressed the SPINDLE and it came right off. Keep in mind these are SPC bushings that press in from the TOP not the bottom as in the OEM UBJ’s. (See photo and it will make sense)
- Next step, grab my re-built spindle and install bushing. Here's where the problem was. The problem was finding a way to support the “NEW” spindle on the press to press in the bushing after the gusset was installed. Two problems here:
- No room to place a receiving cup UNDER the bushing because of the angle of the gusset
- Not enough surface on the spindle to place on the arbor plates.
They aren’t new spindles. I picked these up almost a year ago from a donor vehicle and took my time prepping them. Gussets welded on, pressed in brand new axle bearings, installed new OEM LBJ’s and modified the dust shield for my existing TBU. I've just been waiting for a good time to do the job along with the LCA's.
Oh, and to answer the "why new spindles" questions...I just wanted to completely overhaul my front end. Once I'm finished, I shouldn't ever have to touch it again for another 15 years. At the rate I work, if I used my own spindles, my rig would be on jacks for a year. I have a lot of other projects going on and I want a quick turn-around time on my rig. Two afternoons after work and my entire suspension is finished. haha

OME890 rear with Tundra TRD springs up front on 2nd notch. Billys all around.
Today I installed my mini header to replace my stock cast exhaust manifold. I cut off all of the heat shield mounts, painted with high temp header paint and wrapped with exhaust heat wrap. Did not get a pic of it installed yet. Going to replace the valve cover gasket and check the valve clearance tomorrow.

Mine gets 20 all day on roads above 50mph regardless of hills or not.
We don't have a lot of flat so I don't know if it would do better. 15-18 around town. LT 265/75/16's Thats with 250k...and hopefully I can get another 100 out of it.
