Started off by pressure washing the undercarriage and engine bay then I lubed up my UCAs. Been lazy this winter and have been listening to them squawk for over a month.
Much better now.

Oil change with 4100 miles on the oil since Nov 2015. Looked good. Still need some new passenger side exhaust valve stem seals. Maxlife 10w-30 and a Bosch d3422 installed.

Installed amber Sylvania 194 LED bulbs in the front corners. Don't waste your $ on their pricier Zevo brand, which they sell in individually, for a few bucks more you get the Sylvania ones in a pair, same exact amber color and brightness.
Also installed one Philips H4 headlight bulb...I left the second LED driver at home,installed it @ work.

What symptoms were you having? How'd you diagnose it?
I occasionally hear a very light tap sound almost like getting a bolt and tapping it against the frame under heavy acceleration at highway speeds. Sometimes it's 1 tap & sometimes its a few in a row. No pending cel codes but my catalyst monitor frequently reads not ready & thought maybe a possible exhaust leak issue. Once i get some tune up stuff out of the way I'll see what happens with that sound & go from there.
I decided I was tired of my shovel and clevis' laying in the back so I done something about it. I found 1/4" grommets at Orscheln's and I already had some paracord to use. Drilled holes, installed grommets, ran paracord, and put everything back together.

Took it Out in the Snow
We ended up getting a little snow in Portland/SW Washington last night. Some places got as much as 10" and more. The I-5 was shut down and there was the typical mess around the area with traffic literally stopped in so many places. I opted to "work" from home but my 4runner looked so sad sitting in the garage with all this snow. So with those puppy eyes just looking up at me I just had to take it out on my road and go have some fun!
I must admit, I absolutely love my Nitto Grappler Trails. They're E rated, 33's on 17" wheels and 1 1/2" BORA wheel adapters. Never once did I think about needing chains as I have in the past. Here'a few teaser pics of my road.
I have a similar photo from 2006. Amazing to see the transformation that's taken place over the years and the reliability.

I was half expecting to see a few downed trees across the road, but it was pretty clear. Lovely drive. I actually went out and up another 1000' to see how our roads around the area were.
My lovely wife opted to go for a walk and absorb all the beauty and capture it all on "film". I picked her up a new compact PowerShot G1 X Mark II for Christmas. She's not a fan of my DSLR.

Some time ago I found oil in the throttle body. Six months later I started seeing white smoke in the morning and some oil consumption. I fixed the latter by installing a catch can of sorts between the PCV and the intake. After 4000 miles I probably lose about 1/3 of a quart of oil. The seals go bad sometimes if it isn't driven enough, which is the situation I am in. At this age (almost nineteen years) I might as well take off the head(s), and reseal them. My friend has the keeper catcher that allows the heads to stay on the block when taking out the valves. It all depends on time.
It sounds like you may just need to check the valves. I have never done it on this engine so I am no good to offer advice for such.
Still loving the Metabo? Having to pay Uncle Sam this year means Little Caesar's tool fund will be small....

On quite a few trips my ex wife would get out of the 4runner and walk steaming mad up the street. I knew the relationship was over when I put the 4runner in reverse one time after a fight and she had to take a taxi home. Plus she wasn't a Clemson fan, like if you wife rooted for WSU....

Metabo's a keeper for sure. Used it this weekend to remove my front wheels to replace a broken stud on my spacer thanks to Kauffman tire cross threading one of my spacer (adapter) studs when I had my wheels balanced a few weeks ago. Was retourquing my wheels when I got home and one of the studs snapped off. Thankfully BORA was understanding and sent me a replacement stud for free even after I offered to pay for it since it wasn't their fault. I know theres mixed reviews on wheel spacers but glad it happend on my spacer instead of the stud on my wheel hub since it was MUCH easier to replace. The metabo still shows full charge since the first time I charged the battery. Haven't used it on anything higher than ~90ft/lbs yet.

I guess I'll be waiting with baited breather this year to see whether or not it will remove the crank bolt. Regardless, it is one sweet tool. If I wasn't up to my elbows in Dewalt 20v tools I ask for a raise or even cut grass for extra money to buy one.:lol:

Replaced this beauty:

...Cleared codes P0125, P0130 & P0133.
...Little things mean a lot.
...Those codes returned eventually.
I replaced the upstream O2 sensor last summer, so that's not it.
Cleaned MAF & throttle body recently.
Thought there may be too much back pressure, so today I did this:
Original muffler, 191k miles.
Replaced by Magnaflow 12586.
Reset ECU. See what happens.
...Little things add up.
