make sure you spool your line in straight. I know its hard to do this when actually using the winch. But straight line before using the winch will help save your synthetic line from getting pinched, burned and other stuff

Yeah trust me. First time I winched my self out. The rope got pinched in between the other layers. And I couldn't pull it out by hand lol.

It's easier with 2 people. One inside the truck slightly on the brakes while the other guides the rope. Very very lightly on the brakes. I found a parking lot with a tree

His frame bump stops ate also gone. The rubber looks to be torn off.

If your truck had the recall done than they added coil cones on older 4runners. My 96 had cone stops when i bought it.

I actually spent several weeks emailing toyota back and forth trying to get the springs recalled but they gave me the run around and then just stopped replaying to me. Then a month later they sent ne a standard "how would rate tour experience with us" email. The local toyota "dealership" isn't really an authorized resale place. It just happens to have toyotas and they do a lot of selling and servicing on other brands and so forth. I'm just gonna get the stuff myself and change it all out at the end of april.

I need to remove my third member and wondering what route to go to reseal it back. I have the toyota RED silicone from dealer. I believe its actually for that purpose

He just said he was going to use Toyota FIPG, not sure if there's more than 1 type. I would think that a $30 tube would've ended up on the bill, but labor, gear oil, tax only came out to $250, which is a steal!

My license plate has some faded lettering the reads "Island Paradise Tours". I think 15 to 20 years ago this truck was fitted with airbags and towed a flatbed trailer converted to hold tourist passengers for tours around the island. I've only seen one operating now. Now they use flat bed trucks with cabins built on top of them to cart tourists around. To me the springs appear to be squashed. This picture is taken unloaded. I guess I can add bump stops to my list of stuff to get along with Springs and shocks.

Dude thats crazy! It never occurred to me to look up the tour service. It looks identical except I don't have those black wheel Center caps. The pictures kind of put a hole in my trailer towing theory. I guess the springs and shocks just really are absolute shit at this point. I tried to give her the benefit of a doubt but the problem with toyota and their initial spring design.

well yesterday I replaced the lower ball joints. In the process, I needed to replace a tie rod end because it wouldnt break free unless I beat the shit out of it and I tore the boot in the process with a fork. That was the drivers side. The passenger side went A LOT smoother..that should be a warning right there because when torquing up the 4 bolts one didn't feel right so I stopped,the last one sheared right off. Went to buy some bolts from ACE along with a tap and some easy outs. Got that taken care of

anyone think I should order up the proper bolts to play it safe or should the 10.9 grade be sufficient? The answer will determine which ones I get to replace all of them

For the moment the class 10.9 bolts should be fine but I would get the 8 recommended ones from the dealer for $15.

After a couple fays of dealing with my shitty backup welder and welding my bumper together, I fixed my Lincoln. The wire had rats nested. I got more done in 45 minutes than 2 days with the shitty harborfreight flux core. Still got penetration but Im just pissed. Had to grind a lot of welds. Most of the bumper is fully welded, just a bit more. Forgot to take pictures today while I was down at the shop. Should be able to paint this week and mount it. Ill snag some pictures tomorrow after work.

Rescued a 4runner this weekend. 97 3rz manual, no sunroof.

Tons and tons of cleaning, upgrading, and maintenance coming it's way. Frame looks great, all original paint, lifted crappy on brand new goodyear 33s and nice rims. Got it super cheap :bigok:

Plate bumpers, proper lift from icon, sliders, big stereo sound deadening, balljoints and associated supporting stuff to follow. Once it is running probably end up with a 3.4 s/c setup. Drove it onto the trailer this far and it's getting completely cleaned and starter replaced before I do anything further behind the wheel. I just don't expect the 3rz to be happy with the extra weight/tires under it.

Well... They are pretty level from stock... Not nearly as much rake as some trucks. The front sits about 0.5" lower than rear.

You're going to need more than 0.5" to fit 33's though. Check the lift-FAQ in the third gen stickies.

Radiator and Thermostat swap. Dropped 12 degrees off my coolant temp, now just have to find somewhere in Ohio that takes recycled coolant. Jiggle valve was at 12 o'clock, moved it to 6.
